_ Brilliant Echezeaux 1990 from Domaine Georges Jayer by Henri Jayer. This is an absolute stunning showcase of what Echezeaux can do.. * Score : 95 Point * Drink : Now ~ 2035 + * Comment : Collectable * Wine information Made by Henri Jayer(Last vintage : 2001), Made by Emmanuel Rouget from 2002 * Climat : Les Treux * Winery information Jayer opposed extensive use of chemicals in vineyards and advocated plowing to control weeds. Jayer believed that low yields were the foundation of truly great wines. Jayer was noted for his refusal to filter his wines and known for always destemming his grapes in contrast to habits of other growers in Burgundy that even today let stems go through the crusher when vintages does not provide enough tannins. This has the side effect of adding tannins with more green and bitter character. Jayer also invented a new technique called cold soak that is a pre-maceration avoiding spontaneous fermentation at temperature of about 10 oC for 1-4 days. The method aims to extract more complex aromas, color, less harsh tannins and add more nose to wines. He is noted for his wines from the 1er cru Cros-Parantoux - a very small vineyard (only 1.01ha) of Vosne Romanee at a high altitude above the famous grand cru vineyard Richebourg. This vineyard at the time had low reputation and was considered too much work and not worth bothering with. The soil consisted of very thin layer of clay limestone sitting on a bed of rock. The soil is very poor, it is very rocky and very cold. Jayer understood early that these conditions made up for a very good natural and fresh acidity in wines. In collaboration with Madame Noirot-Camuzet, who owned the vineyard, Jayer took care of her vineyards (beginning after the war in 1945) and for that was offered to keep half of the harvest for himself. As is the custom of Burgundy, Jayer bought piece by piece through the years of this vineyard from the Camuzet family and in 1978 he was convinced that the quality was right and
_ Gorgeous Meursault 1er Cru Les Charmes from Thierry Pillot A beautiful expression of Les Charmes!! Crystalline, pure and very balanced.. * Score : 94 point * Drink : 2024+ * Comment : Highly recommended * Winery information Domaine Paul Pillot was founded in 1900 by Jean-Baptiste Pillot, a barrel maker by trade, who decided to focus full-time on his vines. His sons, Alphonse and Henri, succeeded him after the conclusion of World War I, increasing the Domaine’s holdings significantly and beginning to bottle their own wines. Henri’s son Paul then took over the Domaine in 1968, and acquiring the prestigious Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru vineyards of Clos Saint Jean, Les Grandes Ruchottes, Les Caillerets, and La Grande Montagne, and the Saint-Aubin 1er Cru of Les Charmois. Today, the domaine owns 13 hectares of vines (4.5 in red) and is run by Paul’s dynamic son Thierry who began working in 1999, before taking over full time in 2004. Thierry is the 4th generation to take on the reins of this storied property. Under Thierry the focus has been put squarely in the vineyards, with a discreet use of new wood and a non-interventionist approach in the cellar. The result is wines of finesse and palate staining purity that perfectly reflect the finest terroirs of Chassagne-Montrachet. * Review Les Charmes이 지닌 우아함의 진수를 보여준..
Back at Lake Como and in needed of some red wine to warm up the body. I decided to kick things off with the local alpine Nebbiolo (known locally as Chiavennasca) from Valtellina, which lies just north of Lake Como. My favourite producer is of course @arpepe1860 , who still works the steep alpine vineyard manually (heroic viticulture). Grumello is from 50-60 years old vines, with the vineyard lying 380m above sea level. Traditionally made with low intervention, this undergoes long masceration and aged 4 years in large botti. The 2005 is in a sweet spot right now, intense floral aroma with hint of spice. Refined, fresh, elegant with good complexity, engaging acidity and sleek minerality. I really do love this wine so much and it’s such a shame that I can only taste it 1-2 times a year. ______________________________________________________ #arpepe | "Grumello" #docg | 2005 | 🇮🇹| #valtellina Lombardia | 🍇 #nebbiolo | 🍷 ______________________________________________________

Champagne may be great for a hot summer day but I definitely prefer it on a sunny winter day. The icy, fresh and crisp air matches a chalky Blanc de Blanc from @champagneulyssecollin perfectly. Tasted in FedericoMajo (Italian hand blown as thin as Zalto) the 2013 base needed 20 minutes to breath and was intensely aromatic with alluring aromas of citrus, smoky minerals and hints of nuts. Powerful and zesty this was beautifully balanced by the racy acidity and chalky, saline minerality. ______________________________________________________ #ulyssecollin | "Les Perrieres" #blancdeblanc | 2013 | 🇫🇷| #champagne | 🍇 Chardonnay | 🍷 #federicomajo ______________________________________________________

_ Delightful Alpine Vineyard Chardonnay 2012 from Rhys. I‘m not a big fan of popcorn style(big & butterly) Chardonnay from California, but I adore the Chardonnays from Rhys!! Lovely as always.. * Score : 94 Point * Drink : Now ~ 2040+ * Comment : Highly recommended * Winery information Rhys Vineyards is a wine producer making wines from seven estate vineyards in the mountainous, cool coastal climates to the north and south of San Francisco Bay. The Californian estate focuses on the cultivation of three grape varieties: Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Syrah. Six of the estate's vineyards are based in the Santa Cruz Mountains to the south of San Francisco. These vineyards all differ slightly in terms of terroir, particularly when it comes to soil and aspect. The estate's soil types range from clay loam to shallow, rocky soils, all giving distinct characters in the wines. The individual vineyards' mesoclimates are largely dependent on their aspects and degrees of slope, as each has a different exposure to sunlight and breezes from the nearby Pacific. One of the vineyards, Skyline, is one of California's highest vineyards, at an altitude of 720m above sea level. Rhys Vineyards make a range of single-vineyard Pinot Noir wines, as well as several Chardonnay and Syrah wines. The company also has a 14hectare (35-acre) site in Anderson Valley planted to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. In the winery, grapes are vinified by block in small, one-ton fermentation tanks. The grapes are treaded by foot, instead of using mechanical punchdowns or pumpovers. Rhys Vineyards uses natural yeasts for fermentation, and the wines are aged in French oak.
_ Gorgeous Fut de Chene MV Rose Brut from Henri Giraud. It is already very expressive and incredibly delicious but will improve for another decade.. * Score : 94 Point * Drink : 2026+ * Comment : Highly recommended * Base vintage : 2012 with reserve wine * Grapes : Pinot noir(80%), Chardonnay(20%) with 8% red wine from Ay * Disgorged : Feb.2019 * Dosage : 6g/l * Wine information This Champagne is a blend of wines of the year and reserve vintages matured in Solera. The Solera method consists of adding vines of the current year to wines of the previous years, including red wines from old pinots noirs for this rosé vintage. That is why this House of Champagne named its Champagne MV (multi vintage) Rosé. * Winery information Contemporaries of Henri IV and his descendants, the Hémart family settled permanently in Aÿ at the beginning of the 17th century. Their history took root there and became closely interwoven with the momentous historical events relating to Champagne from the 18th century onwards. At the opening of the 20th century, Léon Giraud married Miss Hémart and reconstructed the magnificent family vineyard, which had been ravaged by phylloxera. Today, Claude Giraud, the 12th generation of the Giraud-Hémart family, is in charge of the fortunes of the family business. The Giraud-Hémart family own 20 hectares - 35 parcels of Grand Cru land of which 26 is planted with Pinot Noir and 9 with Chardonnay. Only 17 of the Champagne region's 323 Crus are classed as Grand Crus (rated 100%). The wine production of Giraud estate is environmentally-friendly, subscribing to the 'lutte-raisonnée' (limited intervention grape growing). The overall production is limited to 250 000 bottles a year. The Giraud house is one of the few houses (Krug is another example) that conduct primary fermentations in oak. Henri Giraud pride themselves on sourcing wood for its barrels from the slow growing, tight grained, high quality trees of the ancient forest of Argonne, lying just
A really delightful Chardonnay experience with this Krug Clos du Mesnil 2004, tasted with Olivier Krug at Le Petit Sommelier de Paris. A discovery that changed my personal Cuvée approach. No need to tell you the whole Clos du Mesnil story. A legendary Chardonnay parcel, the first release was in 1979, coveted, giving a truly expression, all on a common thread. Intense yellow color, golden reflection, truly expressive and fine nose, we deduced it was more precise than 04’ Vintage or Grande Cuvée 160th Édition, lucky to compare them the same event. So complex, pure, really fine but focused, mineral, nice white floral, opened on a large bouquet with air and became more generous, 04’ signature. So voluminous, super sexy, toasted nuts, brown sugar, biscuit and buttery scents, we were amazed how this champ reminded us a Chardonnay Grand Cru from Burgundy. Stay young indeed, but not closed at all. Rich and full attack, concentrated, dense, it remained fine enough to enjoy a lot. Smooth texture, crystalline, pure liquid, sharper on the end-palate, generous scents of pastry, this needs time to make it more weathered and balanced. Acidity is a bit high today, really impatient to taste an older Clos du Mesnil at this point ! Cheers Krug Lovers !!
