“He has this great poetic...and fantastic voice...and what I love about Van, and what I forget to do sometimes is, well...I can tell when Van is just like drifting into sort of a zone...he just drifts into a place where the whole world is shut out and you can tell that he's in that spot. It's almost a dream-like, trance-like state, singing sometimes. That's really what music is all about. It's almost a jazz concept if you know what I mean...you just kinda go out and you're just...wingin' it...and I love that about Van, he will risk that, he will go on and on and on...and he won't fade the ending before the magic happens, as it were." @joey_defrancesco returns to SFJAZZ w/ @chucho_valdes_oficial THU, OCT 3 When Valdés jammed with B-3 organist Joey DeFrancesco aboard the Jazz Cruise last year, there were fireworks. There was an electric connection between these two virtuoso players who share a common approach – a soulful approach, informed by both the conservatory and the street.
Van Morrison Moondance 1970. #22 on my all-time favorites list. Like I said not best, just my favorites. Van the Man has been influencing other artists since 1964 when he was in the classic garage rock greats Them when they put out Gloria. The song was on FM stations forever when I was a little kid. Then he put out Baby Please Don't Go later that year followed by Here Comes The Night. Then he went solo in 67 with his 1st album, which had Brown Eyed Girl on it. I've heard Bruce say that one live among other Van songs. Though Astral Weeks is more critically acclaimed, I grew up with Moondance. Which is his biggest seller. The title song, And It Stoned Me, Caravan, Into The Mystic and Come Running were radio staples all through the 70's. Really not a bad song on it. Another thing about him is no matter how he changed his music he's kept influencing others and putting out amazing albums. Never saw him live mostly cuz he didn't tour that much, but he does go out some now, so maybe. Ranked #65 on RS Top 500 I have it closer to Astral Weeks which is #19, but my made up desert island rules only allow 1 album per artist. #vinyloftheday#vinylcollection#vinylcollector#nowspinning#recordcollector#vinyl#vinylcommunity#vinyladdict#vinylcollectionpost#records#vinylcommunitypost#instavinyl#vinylporn#onmyturntable#vinyligclub#vanmorrison#moondance#intothemystic
