My first exposure to Boogie was through some random YouTube video, maybe a year and a half ago. It was some fun looking performance with these YouTubers, and I kept his name in the back of my mind. Flash forward to a couple days before he releases his debut album, and I find out he's signed the Shady Records. My expectations for the record immediately diminished. If you don’t already know, Shady has always had a terrible track record with the artists they've signed. Mostly, they couldn't seem to figure out whether or not to let their artists do their thing, or strive for commercial hits and sales. The supposed rap-supergroup Slaughterhouse is the most recent well known failure of Shady Records, so prior to Boogie's debut Shady album "Everything's For Sale", I wasn't exactly psyched. Surprisingly, though, Eminem let Boogie do his thing, resulting in a solid, well executed project. Shady took another W later this year by letting @griseldarecords do their thing on their most recent joint, WWCD. So, for once, props to Eminem, and y'all should definitely check out Boogie. The dude is clearly very talented, and is making some solid conscious Hip-Hop.
