Icelandic Christmas traditions🎄⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We have 13 Santa Clauses (Icelandic: Jólasveinar🎅🏼) and the first one comes tonight! They will then come one by one every night until Christmas Eve!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🙈You have to put your shoe on the windowsill, and if you’ve been good you’ll get a small gift when you wake up. But if you’ve been bad, you’ll get a potato! So you better behave😆⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The last Santa Clause always comes with a bigger gift and his name is Kertasníkir ( the one who wants all of your candles). So you better give him one if you want a gift from him🙈⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🎄Christmas in Iceland begins at 6pm the 24th of December and at that time we start eating dinner🍽⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ After dinner it’s time to open the presents😁🎁⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Me and my family always watch a movie and eat dessert when we’ve opened all of our Christmas presents📽⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✨My dad’s birthday is on the 24th of December, so around 11am our family comes to celebrate him💗⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s gonna be so weird not being able to be there this year. But I’ll be in Iceland the 17th till the 23rd of December, so it’s gonna be okay✨⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ❓What kinds of traditions do you have??
