3 years ago I made the decision to leave a career I loved and move away from LA and go back to school to begin a new career pathway in order to give my son a more stable life. I chose a career that would not make me travel and take me away from him so often. I chose a career that taught my son about living a life of service and compassion instead of self fulfillment and egocentrism. Diving into nursing school was one of the hardest things I have ever decided to do. It was a struggle and some days I wanted to quit, but my reminder of WHY I was doing this woke me up and smiled at me with those big eyes every day and made me keep going! This morning I took my last final and finished nursing school! @mekhirese I did it for you!!!
You know, I just gotta say I’m so grateful y’all are ok with my pee break selfies because I don’t remember the last time I wore @wearfigs or anything besides these hospital surgical scrubs 🙈 The scrub photo shoots are few and far between but y’all still like me so I consider that a win 🙌✨ I’ve been loving the new conversation we’ve been having here on IG, that we want to ENJOY Instagram again, and forget about the algorithm and the likes and engagement. So let’s do just that! Happy hump day, fam- lets have some babies tonight 👶
The hardest part was walking out of my final pharm exam and finding out I scored a 55% which means I failed the class. Then I walked in to my theory class and got a 72% on my final. Not gonna lie my face went grey. I went home not knowing what to do. I cried...I honestly was lost. At this point I was considered to be kicked out of the nursing program...yes it got to that point. . . . Now I am working as a nurse and it will be my two year mark. So yes there might be a day where it will hit you really hard that it’s so hard to get up. It will feel impossible. But in reality you can do it. Close your eyes...take a deep breath and keep your head high. Your time will come just like mine.

Yes I’m tired. . . .Never really a 12 hour shift (usually 13-14) .The lives of 6-8 are in my hands .Charge Nurse (a leader to my nurses) .Late lunch or no lunch .Tough days .Nightshift hours . . I think it’s funny that I told myself I want a career that was not stressful...yet here I am in a stressful career. And that’s nursing 💁🏻♀️ and Its funny that I wouldn’t change it ever. ❤️
Just a gentle reminder that whatever it is you’re going through right this second, or have been going through for days, weeks, or months: there are better days ahead. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Nothing in this life is permanent. But to me there’s something beautiful about that. It forces us to live in the present moment and truly enjoy life when it’s good, and learn more about ourselves during the bad. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Even teaching us how to continue to be happy despite what might be going on all around us. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you’ve been in a challenging time for awhile, take a deep breath. It will pass. You’ve made it through so many challenges before, and you will do it again. You are so beyond capable of doing this. 💛 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #reminder#inspiration#motivation#blogger#lifestyle#fitnurse#nurselife#rn#bsn#positivity#positivevibes#thinkpositively

Night ¾ at the hospital ✅! 💊💉🏥 Y’all… I just have to share how much I LOVE working in OB. . . . And while I ABSOLUTELY have difficult days at work (see previous post), the joy that comes along with caring for new mothers and new babies is just out of this world. 🌎 . . . Because I’ve been at work the last three nights in a row I have had the chance to care for a sweet family from their first hour admitted to postpartum all the way to their discharge day. It has been AMAZING watching them progress as a family unit. 👨👩👧 . . The mother is of course a CHAMPION. She battled through a difficult labor and brought her precious babe into this world with grit and grace.💪 . . And the father has not only supported her hour-by-hour but has been a source of respite for her and baby when the “tired” quickly turned into “exhausted”. I think it’s absolutely brilliant to not only watch the transformation of a mother in the postpartum period, but the father as well. 🙌🙌🙌🌈 . . New dads have the ability to bring such a unique sense of calm and love for mama and baby and it’s so fantastic. . . So here’s to working in a field that makes my heart sing! 💓🎶 What specialty in nursing are you in or do you dream of working in?! 🏥
Recently I got into a disagreement with another nurse at work. Her rationale to why she was right was because “I’ve been an ER Nurse for 20 years” she assured me her experience in years over mine was all I needed to trust she was right, no further rationale other than that. Pardon my language, but get the fuq out of here with that. Longevity in this career dictates the length of time you’ve had the opportunity to learn and get experience. However, the opportunity to learn does not correlate to if you seized that opportunity to make the most of your time. No matter what your career is, you dictate your path of growth by the work you put in, on and off the clock. I could drop dozens of names of young nurses I’ve had the pleasure to see grow that I’d trust with my life. You bet your ass if I woke up in a trauma bay with @rd7305 , @mccuey13 or @tay_love_4 looking down at me before they handed me off to @cassietaylor7 , @icumurseqb5 or @haley_bick4d in the ICU to manage my vent, drips, and whatever else, I would rest well (as long as you shit heads aren’t stingy with your propofol and fentanyl drips) knowing I’m just as well if not better taken care of than if a 30 year ICU veteran nurse was at the bedside. You dictate your success not with how long you’ve been at your craft, but how you’ve utilized that time. Many veteran nurses are an absolute gift and a wealth of knowledge that should be taken advantage of, but longevity doesn’t always correlate with success. If you’re okay where you are in your career awesome, but if you want the knowledge to be the best you can be, as well as to be a resource to others, no one can stop you from learning. Go get it. @kedusgetaneh - I want to thank my family, friends and mentors for the unwavering support over the years. It was not the easiest of journeys, but with a strong work ethic and determination anything is possible! S/o to WSU College of Nursing for taking a chance on me as a transfer 2 years ago. I only needed one “yes” and here I am graduating summa cum laude. BSN done & I’m just getting started 📈 #powerhousenurses#bsn#rn#msn#nurselife#nurses
