This is the launch trailer for my game Everything from 2017. Swipe right to see @xbox ‘s trailer for their new console that came out yesterday. Is it a rip off? Let me know what you think 👇 I'm drawing attention cuz of the enormous reach of @microsoft & @xbox. They spent a lot on this and will be spending a lot more promoting it. As time goes on I don't want people to ever think my thing was based on theirs. //// For context - I spent 3 years making Everything. I self funded it and went fully broke doing so. It was a pain to convince anyone that it would work, I did show after show trying to get people interested. I felt insane most of the time, I kept going because knew I had to get these ideas out and there was something magic about combining nature simulation with existential philosophy in this way. It was a 2 year process to license Alan Watts' material, I edited & subtitled it myself. I also designed all of the timelapse flower growing & landscape deformation. It's very far from photo realistic, but it's the best I could do with the resources I had and it's all very personal to me. Luckily - I wasn't totally insane and Everything found it's niche, I very much appreciate everyone who found it and played it and helped it get out there - and who have come to my events etc. I really don't wanna make myself out to be a victim. Just seems rude to do this without reaching out, as if I don't exist. I'm not that hard to find. I was in the audience at @thegameawards last night as their thing premiered. I'm curious what y'all think. #wheelsofcapitalism#everything#alanwatts#xbox#gameconsole#xboxseriesx#poweryourdreams#everythinggame#indiegames#davidoreilly#plagarism#ripoff#microsoft#interactive#art#design#realtime#timelapse#simulation#thegameawards
Hellblade II was announced last night, and that is extremely important. I’ve talked about this game at length before, but I can’t overstate how incredible it is. It’s a game that I thought would never get/didn’t need a sequel, because it was so unique and beautiful as it was. But I believe that @officialninjatheory wouldn’t continue Senua’s journey unless they had another compelling and important story to tell. With that said, words can’t describe how happy this makes me and how excited I feel to delve back into this character. The original Hellblade game was made by just over 20 people. The developers did extensive historical research into the experience of how Celtic culture treated mental health during the age of Viking raids in northern Scotland. The character of Senua experiences the torment of isolation due to her condition, and the simultaneous terror of psychosis; a condition that was far from understood or defined at the time. She becomes the last survivor of her people after the Viking’s pillage and kill everyone - including her lover. Burdened with grief, she seeks to find a way to delve into the Norse Hel to get his soul back. It’s a game experience unlike anything I’ve ever played, and I can’t sing it’s praises enough. Hellblade II even being announced means there’s an even greater important story to tell, and a voice to be given to a historically misunderstood mental health condition. Having games like this are so important to connecting all of us to each other in ways that previously were impossible to understand. If you have the chance, PLEASE give the first game a shot (it’s always on sale on every major platform), and keep an eye on the development of this game. I believe it’s one of the most important games ever made.
