🤩 Jumping at liberty! I’ve missed it 🤩 ••• QOTD: ever jumped bridless/ with a head collar? ••• So happy I finally got around to working on our bridless jumping again, (yes I am aware he had a bridle on in the video 🤣) I took today as a chance to fine tune him a bit at liberty. However, I ended up hardly using the bridle, as you can see in the video the reins are knotted. We were working on control between the jumps and very happy to say he worked super 🤩 can’t wait to string a proper course of jumps together, he’s going to be mega 💪🏻 Joey behaved so well in the horrible conditions as well! The amount of times I was trying to jump and literally couldn’t due to all the rain in my eyes wasn’t good 😂 also this song has made a comeback, so I thought why not use it again. I tried this in the English saddle the other day...would have made for a great fail video 😅. • Should I make a tutorial video for desensitizing your horse to do this trick? I have one horse that I‘ve never tried it with that I could use as an example 🤔💁🏼♀️ let me know!

𝒟𝓇𝑒𝒶𝓂𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝑜𝒻 𝓇𝑒𝒹 𝒹𝒾𝓇𝓉 𝒶𝓃𝒹 𝒷𝒶𝓇𝓇𝑒𝓁𝓈🛢 ——— This picture really speaks to me & I can’t figure out why.. There’s the big arena, the lights, the music, all the trucks, trailers, & barrel horses.... and there’s us in the distance just watching. Part of me felt like, well that’s dumb to post, you look excluded & not a part... But really, this is all part of it. This is dedication, this is practice, this is leading up to what I want to do💫 Buckle & I may not be apart of those running, but we’re doing what we need to do & waiting on Gods timing💖🌙 ——— QOTD: what dream are you sitting back watching until it’s time?!!🌼 #myappy#dreambig#appaloosa#barnlife#barrelracing#nevergiveup#godstime#dedication#cowgirl#leopardappy#horsesofinsta#horses#instagram#follow#love

I wasn’t fortunate enough to get a ready made/push button horse.. I wasn’t fortunate enough to have the money for good papers.. I didn’t get to grow up with horses or have nice barn in my backyard. I didn’t get a $2,000 saddle or a trailer passed down to me.. But I AM thankful for what I do have💗 •.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•. There’s nothing wrong with any of those things I just said^^^ BUT shout out to the girls busting their butts TWICE as hard to get to where they wanna be!!!!💪🏼 It’s not easy, but it’ll be so worth it in the end! When I get to where I wanna be, I can’t wait to say Buckle & I did this TOGETHER! Nothing was handed to us.. Thank you God for giving me what I do have🙌🏼 Can’t wait to see what life has for the future. #workhard#horsesofinsta#appaloosa#horses#horselife#instagram#myappy#love#setgoals#westernriding
I stress the importance of being a confident rider at all three gaits – walk, trot and lope – because if you’re only comfortable at the walk and trot and never lope your horse, you’re setting yourself up to fail. If you can’t lope your horse confidently and you take him out on the trail and something spooks him and he takes off, you’re likely to get in a wreck. Instead of being able to confidently do a One Rein Stop and regain control of the situation, you’re apt to grip his sides with your legs and grab his mouth with the reins in an effort to stay in the saddle. That’ll make the horse feel trapped and claustrophobic and frighten him even more. You have to have the ability to stay balanced in the saddle and control the situation – at any gait. That means that you have to be confident and able to focus on gaining control of the horse and reassuring him and not become paralyzed by your own fear. If you’re fearful and the horse is fearful, you’re guaranteed to get into a bad wreck. - Clinton #applythemethod#motivationmonday#clintonanderson#downunderhorsemanship#horsesofinstagram#horsesofinsta#horsetrainer

‘The Standoff’. Wild stallions challenge each other in Alberta’s Rocky Mountain Foothills. This is @sandysharkeyphotography, very honoured to be guest hosting #whpc til Dec 7th with the theme ‘wild horses of Canada’! The wild horses of Alberta are thick-bodied, powerful horses that live in the mountain forests, bogs and alpine meadows. Six years ago, the Alberta government issued licenses for the capture and removal of 196 wild horses. Wild horse advocates set up camp in sub-zero temperatures near the capture site and spread hay to lure the horses away from danger. Five people were arrested. The footage went viral and the public was enraged that the wild horses were being captured. At the end of the day, 15 wild horses were taken. The outcry embarrassed the gov’t and there has not been a roundup since. The power of many voices! If you would like to experience the wild horses of Alberta, I will be co-hosting a photography retreat in May 2020.
