When I was in the Philippines doing ministry in the Red Light District, I went to many bars, some with up to three floors full of women dressed in next to nothing, with no way to identify them except by a laminated number attached to their hip. 𝐍𝐨 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐧𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫. I don’t remember her number, but I remember her face when I asked the mamasang (brothel keeper) to call her. I remember her reaction of horror when the mamasang took a laser pointer from her pocket, and pointed to the number attached to her. I felt like I could hear her heart drop from where I was sitting. I remember her face when she came to my table, relieved that it wasn’t a foreign man looking to take advantage of her, but me, someone who looked like her, welcoming her with a smile. I remember talking to her, laughing with her, getting to know her, and sharing the gospel with her. I remember offering her a way out in a safe house. I remember her saying no because she had to take care of her family and “this was the only way”. I remember my heart breaking for her. I remember her face, I remember how beautiful she was and how innocent she looked. And as I remember, my heart breaks as I know God’s heart does when it comes to slavery and injustices of this kind. I remember her name, not her number, and Jeylyn is not forgotten. 𝐏𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 these women, and please consider supporting my dressember campaign which goes towards helping women like Jeylyn all over the world. Link in the Bio.
✨Another Artist takeover alert ✨ This is @clairegaulinbrown and I’m excited to be spending the day on here! #wildauction2019 is off to a wild start and we only have a few days left to bid on stunning pieces, just follow the hashtag and have a look. Remember that all or part of your winning bid goes to @pacificwild ! So here’s a little about me to start us off:) I’m an artist and illustrator living on Vancouver Island. I lost my roots for a spell and got an art history degree in Montreal, before re-finding art making and the west coast life that sparks my heart with so much joy. I spend a lot of time outdoors, running trails, surfing, or forest bathing in local woods. Since making art full time, I have really gone back to the basics of finding the deep foundation that my work is based on, and over and over is comes back to the complex ecosystems that we see and breathe on the coast of British-Columbia. I feel as though I can speak about the world, of our troubles, triumphs, and conundrums through the lens of local flora and fauna. I feel as though I have a reliance on the coast now, just as the flora and fauna rely on us to make sure it has a bright and sustainable future. Which is why I am so happy to take part in initiatives such as this auction, so that I can play a part in so much good. Swipe through to the second image to see my contribution, an original pen and ink, gouache and watercolour on paper and it comes framed! 100% of the winning bid goes to Pacific Wild, so head over to my IG account:) Today I’m going to be showing you some recent inspiration and some process videos in IG stories, so be sure to follow along:)
Yesterday over 200 people raised their hand and threw in some money to support a Badass art and community tour across the US and Canada (still haven’t landed on a name yet). I was pretty terrified to launch a crowdfunding campaign because, while I’m REALLY good at fundraising for others and garner support for other folks big ideas - I have never truly fundraisers for one of MY big ideas. I just always find a way to make them happen. This idea is too big to make happen without my community’s support. Yesterday, you showed me that support is out there. I felt so full of gratitude and joy and I actually feel a bit transformed! Like I jumped off the cliff and there you all were! This morning I woke up with a surge of power and total confidence that we can do this and I AM COMING TO YOU and we will keep changing the world!!! A reminder, if 1/3 of you can invest $10 - we are totally funded! The link to @gofundme is in my bio. My @venmo is (at)Shannon-Downey —————————————— Tomorrow we hand piece #ritasquilt and I am going to live stream it here so keep an eye out for periodic check-Ins between 1pm-5pm ct. —————————————— Quote by Daniel Pink ——————————————- #badasscrossstitch#embroidery#artists#fundraiser#bigidea#ustour#craftivism#craftivist#feminism#feminist#stitchersofinstagram#aminspiration#quilting#artistsoninstagram#chicagoartscene#dogoodbegood

Today is #givingtuesday! While there are thousands of worthy non-profit organizations to choose from, we ask that you consider making a donation to our small special needs kitten rescue today. Small animal rescue organizations rely solely on the support of friends and followers to stay in operation. We do not receive any federal, state, or local funding whatsoever. Why should you donate to FURRR 911? Well, our tiny microkitten, Midge, is just one reason. This adorable tuxedo kitten was found in a yard in the Soundview section of the Bronx this October. Midge came to us at just two days old, and she was immediately placed in an incubator where she still continues to live. Although she is now 6 weeks old, Midge still weighs less than 7 ounces. After battling an upper respiratory infection and a bout of diarrhea, this tiny kitten remains developmentally delayed in regards to weight, teeth eruption, and eating. Midge still drinks her formula from a bottle every 3 hours as she wants nothing to do with food yet. Don't be fooled. This little warrior wants to grow and thrive, and we will continue to fight for her. But today, and every day, we need your love and support to save the lives of orphaned, abandoned, and unwanted kittens. To make a donation, please go to the link in our bio for our #givingtuesday fundraiser. To donate via Venmo- @furrr911.
Donate to Los Angeles Rabbit Foundation for Giving Tuesday (or actually, any day!) and bunny Cupid will be grateful to the tippy tips of her cute whiskers. We have a FB fundraiser set up, or you can cut the time until the buns get the $$ by going to www.larabbits.org/donate and donating via PayPal.
