Truly a merry little run this morning... or long run since I ran 16 miles but either way it was a goodie and the miles flew by. ❤️ It’s been awhile since I’ve stopped mid run to take a picture but as I came into my town this morning at mile 1.5 it looked so pretty, quiet, and sleepy and I couldn’t help but stop. In the winter that means taking two layers of gloves off for me, hand warmers, and digging by phone out of my @koalaclip under two layers of shirts but I threw it all on the ground and stood under the stop light right on Main Street for an old school running selfie. When I came back through at the end of my run traffic was already heavy and the streets were filled... so sometimes it’s nice to stop and take in the sights around you, it’s one of my favorite things about being a runner...especially during this busy time of the year! 👌🏻 16 early miles... now off to do all the things! Happy Saturday!!🎄
Winter Motivation  Does any one else find it harder to get the motivation to go the gym during the winter months?  You open the curtains and look outside to find it's still totally dark out and you can just make out the frozen cars glinting from the street lamps... Lying their in your nice warm bed with the covers wrapped tightly around you, it can be hard to find the motivation to get going...especially if you don't have to get up for work as well!  I'm so affected by the weather, if it's a cold and rainy day I find it so much harder to get going than on a warm sunny day. However, I do find going to the gym and having a workout really helps boost my mood.  What helps boost your mood?
I’ll be happy when . . ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ -  It’s so easy to tell ourselves i’ll be happy when, “I look like this”, “have this” or “ when this happens” but that is so detrimental to our well being. If we are always focused on what we don’t have, we are taking away from everything that we actually do have🤦🏻‍♀️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ -  I think social media is an AMAZING platform to connect with others and express yourself, BUT I think it’s easy to get caught up in what other people have that maybe you don’t at this very second. Remember everyone’s on their own journey and it’s not a race ☝🏼 - -  My challenge to you: instead of focusing on a future moment when you’ll “be happy” or “be happier” focus on the present. Time goes by waaaaay to quick to always be focused on the “next thing” With that-I’m not saying you can’t plan for future events and being excited about the future. Kale run! 🌱🏃🏼‍♀️💚 . On some easy days I like to integrate local errands into my run/ride/walk. It saves me time, gas, & the stress of driving around during the holiday season. . This morning’s mission was for one of my favorite veggies, dinosaur kale, so I could make a massive salad for a gathering my sister is having. (Kale has been a lifelong favorite veg, along with beets & Brussels sprouts... I was a strange child.) . I love the dinosaur variety (aka Tuscan or lacinato kale) because of its’ heartiness. It actually does best when marinating in a dressing for a few hours, so it’s great for holiday salads as it holds up very well. It’s also great for kale chips, just make sure it’s completely dry before going in the oven, or else it will steam rather than crisp. . There are many ways to incorporate greens into your day, even if you aren’t fond of them, so get creative & go get your greens on! . #veganathlete #plantpowered #vegangirl @salomonrunning

SATURDAY MORNING WORKOUT ✅ #getfitwithadanma . Being intentionally active is as simple as walking around your street, estate, up and down the stairs etc. JUST MOVE, it’s not complicated (except in the case of health issues and/or medical emergencies). . Many of the illnesses we suffer could actually be as a result of physical inactivity. PLEASE, take your health seriously. . P.S The way people were staring at me on the road like “what is this pregnant lady doing outside her house”, one man even started saying prayers for me in English and quickly switched it up to Yoruba. Havent posted in a hot minute! None of the few workouts I have had the last month has been that good... Alot is going on as many of you know. I have back problems that it doesnt seem like they have a solution for and now my dog, my little baby, has similiar issues. I havent slept for a full night in 3 weeks, my head is hurting 24/7 and on top of that I try to work as much as I can, take my dog to the vet and take care of her. AB MYTH: Abs have to be clenched all the time.  Stop squeezing your abs! This is doing you more harm then good.  I was there. I use to squeeze my abs all the time especially when running (that just led to urinary incontinence). I was a PT that told my patient to “tighten your core” through the day.  We have been told that tightening your abs helps to stabilize the core. After all, having that tighten tummy “looks better” After learning from @juliewiebept I realized ab clenching is making my core imbalanced. After seeing a few pelvic specialist talk about this, I want to chime in.  When you clench your abs, all the OTHER core muscles have to react. Yes, there are other muscles in your core besides abs (and glutes). When the other muscles contract to counter that force, that can lead to low back pain, neck pain, urinary incontinence to name a few.  The core should be a dynamic stabilizer. In proper form and alignment, there is small contraction. This contraction comes without thinking from the body reacting to resist gravity. The abs turn on at different levels depending what the activity is. When there is a light load, the abs fire a little. During a heavier load, the abs fire a lot. When there is an injury, this reaction most likely needs to be retrained. However, the abs shouldn’t be contracted consciously 100% when you’re standing. INGREDIENTS⬇ Base 🍒20g Free Soul Berry Protein 🍒100g Oats 🍒30g Desiccated Coconut 🍒12g Cacao Powder 🍒30g Coconut Oil (Melted) 🍒30g Light Syrup  Filling 🍒15g Free Soul Berry protein 🍒200g Natural Yoghurt  Topping 🍒Desiccated Coconut 🍒Syrup 🍒Berries & Raspberries  Note: 🍒Berries (Fresh or Frozen) -  METHOD⬇ 1. Taking Time Off  Today was a bit of a weird one for me at the gym. It was leg day - which I HATE. I'm all about upper body workouts (hence the chicken legs). I was in the middle if doing some exercises on the leg press (overdoing it no doubt), and came over all dizzy. Long story short, I ended up sitting on the gym floor for about 40 minutes gathering myself together before attempting to walk home.  Anyway, this got me thinking. People are always talking about making the effort to go to the gym and working hard in your sessions...however, those that do go to the gym often and put in 100% most days, can sometimes get caught up in seeing results and not taking enough rest days.  Rest days are just as important, as is listening to your body and resting when it tells you to...as mine VERY clearly did today!  Oh... and after a quiet day eating and drinking lots I'm getting there. 😜

A few months ago I would NEVER have posted a photo like this online, let alone even taken the photo!  I would keep saying to myself i would post a photo when i looked better - lost a bit from here, gained a bit there, more toned here...etc.  Then about 2 weeks ago I asked myself why I was doing this. Why wasnt I happy with how I looked NOW!? Because I wanted to look perfect and "Instagram ready" (whatever the hell that even is) before I posted anything.  I didnt think i looked as good as other people posting these kinds of photos - my bum wasnt big enough, my abs weren't popping enough, I didnt have huge muscular thighs.  But actually, I love the way I look just as I am, and more importantly, feel. I've put so much time and effort into feeling and being fit and healthy - eating properly, working out regularly and challenging myself both mentally and physically.  Love how you are now, NOT how you might look or want to look one day.  If you're chasing perfection, you'll NEVER reach it!

Gotta love a beanie this time of year - shorts be staying though!  Today was a complete rest day for me from the gym - didnt even pit on gym gear...which doesnt happen often for me.  Any of you live in your gym gear or are you strictly gym clothes at the gym ONLY?  Working from home, I got to spend the entire day in my xmas PJ's working on my laptop in front of the Christmas tree was which amazing!  However, today was the first day I've found myself in the Christmas spirit. I'm normally that really annoying one who has finished ALL their xmas shopping by October and is counting down the days...from September! Strawberry Avocado Salad + Honey Lime Dressing 😋🍓🥑⁠ .⁠ Ingredients:⁠ 6 packed cups baby spinach⁠ 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced⁠ 1 large avocado, diced⁠ 1/3 cup Asiago cheese, grated⁠ 1/3 cup chopped pecans⁠ .⁠ Homemade Honey Lime Dressing:⁠ 4 tbsp high quality olive oil⁠ 3 fresh limes, juiced⁠ zest of 1 lime⁠ 1 Tbsp raw honey⁠ 1-2 fresh garlic cloves, minced⁠ pinch of sea salt and pepper, or more to taste⁠ .⁠ Instructions:⁠ In a small mason jar add all dressing ingredients. Post LES MILL’s Workout. Feeling strong, healthy, and empowered. In and out in 30 minutes (perfect for a hectic final schedule wooo) 💪🏼 - -  @24hourfitness has released a set of new classes as of 12/9 (2 days ago) which include BODYPUMP, BODYCOMBAT, LESMILLS GRIT (that’s the one I did), CXWORX, RPM, SPRINT, BODYATTACK to name a few, that are offered in 400 clubs 🏪 - -  From someone who strictly goes to the gym to weight lift and cardio, I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect out of this class. I mentioned on my story some pro’s as to what the class offers: - - 🔹 Support/Motivation/Encouragement from the instructors - - 🔹Cool playlist/Loud Speaker/Buzzer for when the time is up - - 🔹Minimal Rests = Keeping heart rate high. The class is only 30 minutes, with that you know every single second counts! - - 🔹You can do it with a friend/family member,  everyone is welcome!! - - 🔹 Provides a nice change up from your everyday routine/workout split - - 🔹WHAT U PUT IN IS WHAT YOU GET OUT OF IT. You can easily add more weight to the barbell or focus on intensity (higher rep ranges) remember it’s U vs U and no ones going to do the work for you - - 🔸Cons... not sure if this counts but for someone that doesn’t go to classes .. I was unaware at how long it would take to set up (just a few minutes) but get there early so you’re ready to go as soon as the class starts! - - 🔸 Instructor was face-pace, but I mean she has to be if you’re only there for 30 minutes. I felt as if someone who was unfamiliar with the exercises could have gotten lost, BUT people do go at their own pace so they have time to catch up before the circuit round is over 👍🏼 - -  Thank you 24 hour for providing these wide range of classes spread throughout the day. Not even going to lie, I’ve been feeling the effects of all of these holiday treats so far 😂 🍫 🍭 . It’s great to indulge from time to time, but I’ve been enjoying a LOT of sugar (aka chocolate) day to day and things are starting to catch up to me! Chocolate is totally my vice 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m feeling a bit sluggish, tired & not my best self so it’s time for a bit of a reset 😊 Today I’m drinking a TON of water, sticking only to dark chocolate (Lily’s stevia sweetened is my fave - chocolate isn’t going altogether let’s be real here lol) and getting in 10,000 steps 🙌🏼 I always say it but for me, my diet and exercise is all about keeping my mind in a healthy place as much as my body. I cant believe the amount of love and support I got on yesterdays post! Thank you so, so much, i was so worried putting that picture up! ▪️Todays Post Putting on weight is something I have always found so hard and so frustrating. Can you believe, 1 year ago today I weighed 6kg LIGHTER than I do in the photo above (taken today). Although in a way I dont think I look that different on the outside, on the inside I feel like a totally different person. I feel I have come out of my shell more and am ready to face the world and dont shy away from new challenges.  Although I eat ALOT now (approx 3000 cals a day), it has taken me so long to get comfortable with eating that much food and not care if I see some extra padding in places or a little cellulite. I now see food as something that fuels my body, helps my muscles grow, work harder in the gym and have a new lease for life!  Any of you who are struggling with this now, keep going, you can and will do it, it just takes time and so much patience.  Shorts - @astoria_activewear  Sports Bra - @gymshark

Sedentary behavior is becoming predominant in our society 😖. Most people spend their day doing sedentary activities such as watching tv, napping/oversleeping, and studying for hours🙇🏻 . Sedentary behavior puts you more at risk of CVD, obesity, stroke, and diabetes 💔 . One of the best ways to start is walking. It is free and you can do it anywhere and at anytime of the day . According to CSEP Guidelines: Adults (18-64) should have 150+mins. of physical activity and at least 2 days of strength exercise per week

⭐️Self Discipline vs Motivation ⭐️ ⠀⠀ Scrolling through Instagram you’ll see a lot of people talk about what motivates them or what keeps them in the gym day after day.  You’ll hear loads of different answers from everyone... Mental health 🧠  Physical health 🏃🏼‍♀️ I enjoy it 😃  The way I look 👀  The way it makes me feel 💯  And so on, and so on.... ⠀⠀ The truth is motivation comes and goes. You’re not always going to have the energy to get to the gym. There maybe weeks at a time where you don’t feel like training for awhile or you’d like to push goals back until you find your motivation again. ⠀⠀ ❗️That’s when self discipline comes in ❗️ ⠀⠀ I like to think of self discipline as the practice of teaching yourself a very important form self control and one of the hardest things to master when it comes to accomplishing goals. ⠀⠀ On the other hand, motivation is said to be highly influenced by your emotions. It is your drive behind why you do things and is very important to creating good habits. Being motivated enough to form a habit (like going to the gym regularly) can be a very exciting thing. Since motivation is directly influenced by your emotions, you can fuel it even more when you perform well or see gains super fast.  Unfortunately putting all your faith into motivation might not be best for you if you’re not seeing the results you want or are having a week of not so good gym sessions. Things will come up, life will get in the way,  and your motivation will fluctuate. ⠀⠀ If you want to make fitness a lifestyle and are in it for the long haul, self discipline will be your best friend! Motivation will get you started, but self discipline will get the job done even when you don’t feel like it! Mental training has been tough this week and I’m pretty sure it’s sabotaging physical training - I did NOT want to run today which is weird and when I finally went out it was harder than it had to be... HR was low and I kept slowing down to stay easy...it was an easy pace run but NOT an “easy run”, don’t know if you can relate to this but some days you do what you have to and that’s it! I have 17 miles for my long run this weekend and I really need to train my mind, I’m struggling big time trying to click with running this week!🤷🏻‍♀️ . . .
