I am shocked by how many times in our industry I hear something along the lines of “don’t do anything that is sore”. . . Rehab can sometimes involve some level of discomfort. How I like to frame it to my patients, is that there are two types of pain. . 1️⃣ acceptable . 2️⃣ unacceptable. . . An acceptable kind of pain, is a slight dull ache that you feel while performing the movement. It doesn’t get worse throughout the set; and usually stops after the exercise. This dull ache is usually a 3-4/10 and remains at that level. . . Ah unacceptable kind of pain however, gets worse with each repetition. Gets sharper, and usually rates a little higher; a 6-7 out of 10. In these cases; we could be aggravating something. . . Now of course everyone’s experience of pain is quite subjective. However the unacceptable pain will usually linger around for long periods, and might cause you to feel “tense” or “stiff” the following day. . . Remember an acceptable kind of pain is not only tolerable, but expected in your journey of rehabilitation. A little bit of discomfort if managed correctly; can help you progress from your injury; stronger than before. . . Tag someone who could benefit from this 👇🏻👇🏻. And of course, if you are experiencing pain of any sort; would highly recommend you have it assessed first by a trained professional.

Butters is not feeling well. He woke us up at 230 AM yelping. I spent the next few hours, walking him (did his business), rubbing his belly, and trying to get him comfortable. At 630 AM we headed to the emergency vet. He didn’t cry for the vet, so she suggested bloodwork and xrays. She said “there is nothing remarkable.” There were some kidney stones, but his bloodwork was great so she doesn’t think it’s that. We are home now and monitoring. He is not happy and super lethargic. Left @phillies Strength Camp this afternoon and headed straight to the airport to fly to South Carolina for a meeting with my friends at @sorinex . Per my usual pre-flight routine, I spent a few minutes moving my body before boarding my flight. It’s so important to MOVE MORE, especially before bouts of prolonged sitting!💪 . Swipe to see the still shot of my @phillies_strength shirt with the great phrase on the back: “The enemy of progress is comfort.” Isn’t that the truth?💯 . Since I had nearly an hour before boarding, I spent 20 minutes walking around before heading to a nearly empty gate adjacent to mine to stretch out and move through all three planes of motion, #minutemoflow style. 👍 . (FYI—this video is obviously sped up; in reality this sequence took about 2 1/2 minutes.) . Whenever I post about #airportmobility✈️, I receive DMs asking for advice on where, what & how long. So, my answers are below: . How long, what & where depends on circumstances. You need to have some “court awareness.” I’ve seen people stretching in “open” areas that are actually spaces where people need to pass through. It’s inconsiderate...and dumb. C’mon.🤦‍♀️ . Is it crowded? Can you find a nearby gate with fewer people? Without walking too far from your own gate, you can usually find an empty/less crowded one. Does your airport have a yoga room? . Figure out your favorite 3-7 moves you can do in the space you have in no more than 5 minutes. Try to move through all planes of motion (forward/backward, side-to-side & twisting) while focusing on areas that tend to get compressed and tight while sitting. And then STAND at your gate waiting to get on your plane. Why sit at the gate when you are about to be stuck sitting for a prolonged period on your flight? Take advantage of the opportunity to stand & move.👊

Working on Scrum Technique under Fatigue! You can work on your Scrum Technique when you are fresh but when you are in a game you need to perform in the scrum under fatigue!  People are always asking me why do you do ZUU @zuufitness ! Why not ? 😁. ZUU allows me to put a player in state of fatigue and work on his technique in realistic conditions. The movement that @antoine_duduu is doing, is helping him with hip and shoulder mobility . How great is that! We need hip mobility in the scrum and shoulder mobility in the line-outs. There is your why !  Rugby is evolving and so should we as coaches! The game has become violent and the risk of injury is high. ZUU allows me to equip my players with the tools to reduce the risk of injury, improve strength and power and improve mental toughness ! Cossacks and pistols were something I never thought I could do. I spent a lot of my life thinking there were people born with the ability to perform movements like these and I would certainly never be capable to.  However, after learning more about #frc and doing my own research, I discovered you can train your body to do just about anything. The key is being intentional and dedicated to training the prerequisites needed to do whatever it is that you want to do.  Stop believing the lies that you’re Too old Too busy Too broken Too injured Too skinny Too fat Too whatever to make changes to your body.  You can.... Great to see the boys from @highlandersteam doing @zuufitness movements during their training sessions. Many people ask me but why are you doing so much ZUU ? How is this related to rugby or scrums ?  In rugby we often find ourselves in uncomfortable positions. How many players get injured in the ruck ? Injuring their lower backs and hamstrings ? Loads of them. How many props hurt their lower backs and get hurt because they are no longer used to being on those foreign positions  The game of rugby is evolving! Players have gone backwards. We are so focused on strength and power that have forgotten  how to move! I am not saying that we should take a step back on our strength and conditioning training. All I am saying is compliment it with movement. Zuu is a great way to prevent injuries, improve mental toughness and performance in Elite sports  Two key exercises for rugby players. Frog squats for Front Row players. Gorillas 🦍 for fetchers at the ruck . Don’t understand it ? Try these movements and then you will know why. Een grote kans dat iemand van jullie dit herkent. Mensen met dementie verliezen steeds meer grip op hun leven en worden afhankelijk van de zorg van anderen. CliniClowns geeft ook mensen met dementie aandacht en ik zie van dichtbij wat dit voor hen kan doen. Ze komen echt tot leven, maken plezier en zijn helderder van geest. Even kunnen er weer herinneringen opgehaald worden, dit is voor naasten en de persoon met dementie een fijne ervaring. Does our past have the ability to hurt us? The other day my family met a man they hadn’t seen in over 30 years. They were at a demonstration for Chile in Sweden and randomly bumped into the son of the man who had helped them escape Chile in the 70’s. He told them his dad had passed away of cancer, which sadly is common today, but here’s what’s random. My grandfather’s brother is currently dying of cancer in France and my grandfather started chemo therapy this year for a tumor they found on his neck. Coincidence? Maybe, but here’s something you should know. All three of these men were in a prison in Chile where they were brutally tortured. They were Mapuche’s, indigenous, fighting back against a dictator who forbid them to speak their language, took away their land and their human rights. Anyone who fought back was either tortured or killed, or both, and many of their bodies were never found which is where the term Los Desaparecidos (The disappeared/lost ones) comes from. This happened in both Chile and Argentina. Now these three men managed to escape the prison, but one thing they never escaped from is the trauma they went through all those years ago. We’ve all heard stress is the leading cause of disease. Trauma is stress. I remember when I was living with my own trauma, I had migraines every week, I was constantly getting sick and my body always felt pain. You know how when you have a virus in your body and you feel weak, that’s how it felt like but it became normal and I got used to feeling that way. When we haven’t let go of trauma, we are still living in the trauma of our past. We are literally stuck reliving it over and over again and our basic needs becomes neglected. Now, I’m no doctor or scientist, this could just be a coincidence for all we know. But I’ve been surrounded by trauma my whole life. I’ve researched it for over a decade. I’ve successfully let go of my own trauma and I’ve helped hundreds of people all over the
