💭F A T I G U E [art/words: @themindgeek] —— 👾There are many benefits to being a HSP. To name but a small few, we’re highly empathetic, generous with our time, + like to help others out! 👾And yet, when we don’t have the balance right, our strengths can lead us too far into Other Care + far, far away from Self Care, leading to overwhelm, overload + burn out 👾In the image above are just some signs of cognitive fatigue, which many of us [HSP or no] will be familiar with! Recognizing the signs of fatigue means we can choose to address our situation as it stands + replenish where necessary before we burnout entirely✨ —— 💭Other Signs We’re Running On Empty: ✏️Our immune system weakens ✏️Don’t feel any joy in our day ✏️More sensitive to comments by others ✏️Feel resentful + defensive ✏️Creatively blocked ✏️Desire to disconnect from everything around us ✏️Struggling under the weight of our responsibilities ——— 💡Q U E S T I O N 🔎When I’m running on empty, I notice I become increasingly [understatement] cynical, + overly concerned with my finances. What’s one of your low-fuel warning signs? 🌿Share your experiences below, if it feels safe doing so✨ —— #burnout#anxiety#hsp#empath#empathy#selfcompassion

"I’m so tired! I just want to close my eyes. I could sleep forever.' This is a common thread among those who are emotionally spent. And the number of people who suffer from this is escalating at an alarming rate. This kind of tired is what happens when emotional trauma gets the upper hand. Emotional trauma is so disempowering that it causes physical symptoms. And no amount of stimulants will help. In fact, “solutions” like coffee, tea (even green), alcohol or cannabis only deplete the body—specifically the adrenal glands—creating a vicious cycle of ups and downs. Besides, all those things only mask the problem. From my own experience and from conversations with others who have at one time or still suffer silently, I have seen how important it is to address this issue." 👉Continue reading, "Running on Empty: 7 Tools to Heal Emotional Exhaustion," on elephantjournal.com (or click the link in bio to get our clickable feed). ❤️ #elephantjournal#beofbenefit#mindfullife#burnout#restore 👉 Image/quote by @ninetypesco 👈 Follow her

Do you feel like you’re putting everyone else first, all the time? I thought so. PLEASE stop for a minute and read this, because it is so, so important. Especially at this time of year when you’re running around trying to make the holidays perfect for everyone in your life. Taking time for yourself is not bad, shameful, or something to feel guilty about. It is a necessary part of taking care of yourself. Take a minute today to check in with what YOU need. Have a moment to be selfish. To do something that’s just for you. Because seeing you being brave enough to go after your dreams or take care of yourself is exactly the example your family needs. Put a ❤️in the comments if you agree!
People often mistake mental burnout as pure determination but it’s important you realise that in doing so, you often make yourself vulnerable to even more mental health illnesses. Sometimes it’s important to relax and let your body breathe! #bethespark#mentalhealthweek#burnout#mentalhealth
