Jessica Marie Alba, who was born on April 28 1981, in Pomona, California, USA, is an American actress.

TV and movie career for Alba began at the age of 13 with her appearance in the film "The Lost Camp" and the series "The Secret World of Alex Mc" (1994). She became famous for her lead role in the television series "The Dark Angel" (2000-2002). Later, Jessica acted in various films, including "Sin City" (2005), "Fantastic Four" (2005), "Fantastic Four 2: The Invasion of the Silver Surfer" and "Good Luck, Chuck" (2007).

Alba was voted number one on the list of "99 Most Coveted Women" in 2006 by the results of voting on the AskMen.com web portal, as well as "The Sexiest Woman in the World" according to FHM magazine in 2007. Jessica received many awards for her work, including the Teen Choice Award and Saturn in the category "Best TV Actress" and the Golden Globe nomination for her work in the "Dark Angel" series.

She was born to the family of Katherine and Mark Alba. Jessica's mother has Danish and French Canadian roots, and her father is an American of Mexican descent. Jessica has a younger brother. Her father's career in the Air Force forced the family to live in Biloxi, Mississippi, and Del Rio, Texas, before returning to California.

Childhood and youth of Jessica were marked by a number of diseases: she had atelectasis twice, pneumonia 4-5 times a year, a cyst on tonsils. This isolated her from other children in the school, because she was in the hospital so often that no one knew her well enough to provide support. Also, the girl suffered from a compulsive disorder syndrome. Nevertheless, her health improved when the family moved to California.

Alba was interested in acting from the age of five. At the age of 12, she attended her first acting class, and 9 months later she signed a contract with an agent. After Jessica graduated from high school at age 16, she studied acting with William H. Macy and his wife Felicity Huffman in the ┬źAtlantic Theater Company┬╗ Theatrical studio that Macy founded with the director and screenwriter David Mamet.

Her first appearance on the screen was a small role in the film "The Lost Camp" (1994). Initially she was hired for a period of two weeks, but her role turned into a two-month job. Alba appeared in two commercials for Nintendo and JC Penney, and also played in several independent films. Jessica became known to the general public in 1994 as Jessica in three episodes of Nickelodeon 's comedy series "The Secret World of Alex Mac". Then she played the role of Maya in the first two seasons of the series "Flipper".

In 1998, she appeared in the role of Melissa Hauer in the episode of the first season of the criminal drama "South Brooklyn", as well as in the role of Lianne in two episodes of the series "Beverly Hills 90210" and as Laila in the episode of the series "The Boat of Love." In 1999, she appeared in the comedy Randy Quaida "The Punks". The debut in Hollywood for the actress was the romantic comedy "Unadorned", as well as the horror comedy "The Hand-Killer" (1999).

A breakthrough for her was the casting of James Cameron, who selected her from 1200 other contenders for the role of genetically engineered super-soldier Max Guevara in the television series "The Dark Angel". During the preparation for the "Dark Angel", Jessica studied for three hours each day, began starving herself and became very thin. She admits that at that time she may have had problems with eating disorders. The series "The Dark Angel" made Alba popular. She won the Teen Choice Award in the category "Actress", the "Saturn" award and the Golden Globe nomination for the role of Max Guevara.

She often began to appear on the lists of the sexiest women on the planet. In 2006, Jessica received the MTV channel's "Sexiest Performance" award for her role in the film "The City of Sins". At the same time, she was often sharply criticized: Alba was nominated three times for the Golden Raspberries in 2006, 2008 and 2009.

Her most famous roles are the choreographer in Lapochka, the exotic stripper Nancy Callahan in "Sin City" and Sue Storm in the adaptation of the comic book about the "Fantastic Four" and its continuation. Later, she starred in the films "Welcome to Paradise!" and "Good luck, Chuck". In 2006 Jessica was leading the ceremony MTV Movie Awards and played in small parody of the movie "King Kong", "Mission Impossible 3" and "The Da Vinci Code".

In 2008, Jessica appeared in the horror film "The Eye", a remake of the original Hong Kong horror film. Although the film was not well received by critics, Alba's role received both positive and negative reviews. For this role, the actress was nominated for "Golden Raspberry" in the category "The Worst Actress" and won the Teen Choice Award for Best Actress in the horror film. Also in 2008, Jessica co-starred with Mike Myers and Justin Timberlake in the comedy "Sex Guru". This film failed at the box office and was negatively evaluated by critics. The role of Alba in it was also not highly evaluated and she again received a nomination for "Golden Raspberry".

In early 2010, the Sundance Film Festival hosted the premiere of Michael Winterbottom's thriller "The Killer Within Me", in which Jessica played the role of prostitute Joyce Lakeland. The film was rated much higher than Alba's previous works, although it received mixed reviews due to the presence of violent scenes in it.

The next work of Alba in 2010 was the comic thriller Robert Rodriguez "Machete", which tells of a Mexican killer who was framed by his employers. The film failed at the box office, but received a lot of positive reviews in the media. In "Machete" Jessica played an employee of the department for combating illegal migration, which is engaged in the search for illegal migrants.

Since childhood, Jessica was a Christian of the Catholic faith, but left the church, because she felt that there she was judged by appearance. She commented: "The elderly people condemned me, and my pastor explained to me that it was because I was wearing provocative clothes, although I did not wear it. It just made me desirable for the other sex, it was my fault, and it made me ashamed of my body and just being a woman".

In addition, Alba objected to the church's condemnation of premarital sex, and also to the lack of important female characters in the Bible :"I thought that the Bible is a good life guide, but that's definitely not the case, so I will live my life". Her religiousness began to decline at the age of 15, when she was invited to shoot one of the episodes of the series "Hope of Chicago" in 1996. Her friends reacted negatively to this role, and she began to lose faith in the church. However, she stated that she still believes in God, despite leaving the church.

During the filming of the series "Dark Angel" in January 2000, Jessica dated her partner in the frame, Michael Wetherley, which caused controversy because of their twelve-year age difference. Weatherley proposed her to make an album on her twentieth birthday, and Jessica agreed to. In August 2003, Alba and Weatherley announced their break-up. Later, Alba said that the age difference did not play a role for her.

In 2004, on the set of the "Fantastic Four", Jessica began to date Cash Warren. On December 27, 2007, Alba and Warren announced that they were engaged. Their wedding was held on Monday May 19, 2008, in Los Angeles. On June 7, 2008, Jessica had a daughter named Honor Marie Warren. The first photos of her daughter appeared in the magazine OK!, which paid Jessica 1.5 million dollars. August 13, 2011 the couple had a second daughter - Haven Garner Warren. On December 31, 2017 their son Alba Warren Hayes was born.
