⭐⭐⭐Transformation Tuesday ⭐⭐⭐ May 2018 I went on a really successful fitness journey. I embraced a healthy life both physically and mentally. I smashed my goals and got pregnant at July 2018. This was an amazing blessing. All my life, as a type1 diabetic, I was told pregnancy would not be walk in the park. This was an understatement. I was in a lot of pain throughout. Type 1 diabetes and pregnancy led to severe hypoglycemia in the first trimester all the way to insulin resistance by the third trimester. I developed severe retinopathy and neuropathy which I’m still being treated for until today, carpal tunnel syndrome and a life threatening condition called pre eclampsia. A by product of this was 48kg (106lbs) weight gain (picture in left). 8 months since I’ve lost 28kg using natural healthy eating and exercise and am now 87kg (picture in the right) from 115kg. I weight lifted prior to pregnancy but had to take it easy because i had a unplanned c-section. The first 4 months were purely healthy eating and walks with the baby. At 4 months I had started working out again but going slowly. As the months have gone on from 6 months postpartum my body is getting stronger and fitter so I’ve taken on more. The words of my consultant still ring in my ear, “Farnaaz, you worked so hard on your pregnancy to bring your daughter safely into the world. You need to lose weight. How would you feel in 15-20 years if you have to ask that same daughter for a kidney”. I vowed from that point on I will lose the weight. I will be healthy and enjoy my time with my daughter. I will become the best version of myself for my daughter, my family and myself. “It’s not about being the best. My family and I just got back from @schnepfchristmas (watch my insta stories!) so now I’m having my dinner! I used to be so ashamed to show my body off, i hated going out to events or anywhere! i hated having to dress up i would get so depressed looking at myself in the mirror.
