⭐⭐⭐Transformation Tuesday ⭐⭐⭐ May 2018 I went on a really successful fitness journey. I embraced a healthy life both physically and mentally. I smashed my goals and got pregnant at July 2018. This was an amazing blessing. All my life, as a type1 diabetic, I was told pregnancy would not be walk in the park. This was an understatement. I was in a lot of pain throughout. Type 1 diabetes and pregnancy led to severe hypoglycemia in the first  trimester all the way to insulin resistance by the third trimester. I developed severe retinopathy and neuropathy which I’m still being treated for until today, carpal tunnel syndrome and a life threatening condition called pre eclampsia. A by product of this was 48kg (106lbs) weight gain (picture in left). 8 months since I’ve lost 28kg using natural healthy eating and exercise and am now 87kg (picture in the right) from 115kg. I weight lifted prior to pregnancy but had to take it easy because i had a unplanned c-section. The first 4 months were purely healthy eating and walks with the baby. At 4 months I had started working out again but going slowly. As the months have gone on from 6 months postpartum my body is getting stronger and fitter so I’ve taken on more. The words of my consultant  still ring in my ear, “Farnaaz, you worked so hard on your pregnancy to bring your daughter safely into the world. You need to lose weight. How would you feel in 15-20 years if you have to ask that same daughter for a kidney”. I vowed from that point on I will lose the weight. I will be healthy and enjoy my time with my daughter. I will become the best version of myself for my daughter, my family and myself. “It’s not about being the best. I’ve hit rock bottom before. I know what it feels like to feel defeated by your own body. This journey saved me. This journey has helped me meet so many amazing people. #motivationmonday Not going to lie, this weekend was a struggle. When I was I was at my smallest it was really fun shopping and I felt confident in my size medium clothes. It’s not as fun shopping for extra larges. I broke down because weight loss is not an overnight and simple fix. But I remembered the old me was so excited to go from a 3x to an XL. The time this takes is so frustrating, but quitting certainly doesn’t speed it up. So I put on a fabulous outfit and lipstick and carried on with my tracking. I can only focus on today and right now. My family and I just got back from @schnepfchristmas (watch my insta stories!) so now I’m having my dinner! While everyone else had chicken tenders, Mac n cheese and kettle corn popcorn, I made sure to take one of my meals to go! 👍🏻 Ate it there, then had this for my dinner😍 My mom made me a fresh batch of her delicious salsa too! Happy December 1st - a brand new month & an important one at that! This before picture of me was Christmas of 2015 I was at my highest weight ever (331 lbs) & extremely depressed. My life revolved around eating & drinking & nothing else. I was aware of the bad cycle I was stuck in & I also knew I was the only one who could break out if it. In January of 2016 I decided to try again at changing my life. 6 weeks between these photos! Just goes to show when you put your mind to something, make a plan and follow it...results happen! . I bought these pants online in my usual size and when I tried them on they were way too small. I used to be so ashamed to show my body off, i hated going out to events or anywhere! i hated having to dress up i would get so depressed looking at myself in the mirror. Easy chicken sheet-pan serving 2 ✌🏽in 30 minutes. — Roasted chicken thighs served on top of a rainbow of root vegetables and Brussel sprouts then topped with a green pesto (hazelnut and kale) — Serves 2 • 3 chicken thighs - bone and skin on • a few carrots • 1/4 butternut squash • 1 medium sweet potato • 1 red onion • 1 tbsp ghee or coconut oil 2 tbsp green pesto to serve Optional: fresh sage / rosemary — Instructions: 1. Heat oven to 200c. Line a baking sheet with grease proof paper. 2. Prep all vegetables into even sizes. 3. Add and distribute the ghee or coconut oil on to the tray. 4. Add the root veg and onion. Then add the sprouts (sliced in half). Top with the chicken thighs. 5. Place tray in oven. Bake for 25 mins. 6. For the last 5 minutes switch the cooking setting to broil / grill. Keep an eye to make sure the skin does not burn. 7. Remove from oven. Scatter over the pesto, season with salt and serve 🔥. — This is an easy weekday dinner for two.
