SpeakOut Speaker, Dr. Nolan Cabrera is a nationally-recognized expert in the areas of racism/anti-racism on college campuses, whiteness, and ethnic studies. ⠀ Dr. Cabrera’s most recent book, “White Guys on Campus: Racism, White Immunity, and the Myth of "Post-Racial" Higher Education,” just received the Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE) Outstanding Book Award. This award recognizes a book that has significantly contributed to the study and scholarship of higher education. ⠀ “Cabrera’s book discusses the subtle--and not so subtle--ways that racism, perpetrated by white men, plays out on college campuses. The work is a significant, important shift in research on diversity in higher education, away from the vantage point of those who experience problems because of their diversity and toward the systemic structures that create those problematic experiences.” ⠀ Congratulations, Dr. Cabrera! ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ #racisminamerica#whiteimmunity#colleges#highered#undergraduate#graduateschool#studentsuccess#racismisreal#stopracism
