She has so many hurdles to jump over in her life that would have had a normal person pull out yonks ago but nope, not this one! If something breaks down she stays patient, builds it back and comes back even stronger. Recently she competed in her very first powerlifting comp where she pulled a personal best of 77.5kg! That’s about 20kg over her body weight! For her efforts she earned herself a silver medal! Proud as punch 💪🏻⁣ ⁣ (Video 4) Rachy girl: I’ve never ever met someone who works as hard as this girl and that’s no lie. Since working together she keeps getting stronger and stronger but remains humble at all times. Always remain coachable, that’s the best thing you can be as an athlete. Rach recently competed again at GPC Melbourne Cup where she lifted S-190kg, B-90, D-175kg for a total of 455kg. For this federations weight class that puts her in the top 5 strongest in the country. Success and failures. Everyday it seems I find them both. Here with the iron or in life. Today I got a huge PR on my clean, 295#s!! That’s up 20#s more in the months I haven’t even trained. I attempted 300 twice and failed at both. But the satisfaction of that PR didn’t even let my spirits dampen. We all have failures, sometimes they out number our success. Taking a rest day today because I ended up in the ER last night (from an extreme amount of pain for an issue I'm dealing with currently) and did not get a lot of sleep. I'm totally fine, they gave me some medicine for it and told me I'm doing all the right things for it and that's all we can do until it heals. I'm feeling a lot better today. I'm still in some pain, but significantly less than I was in last night. Anyways here's a picture of a not well known tradition of mine for any race I run. At every race or run that I participate in, I flip off the last mile sign. I know it seems like a dumb, immature tradition, but to me it represents an F-U  to all of the barriers that I had to overcome to get to that point. It reminds me that I can achieve greater things if I put my mind to it and is a celebration of what I have achieved so far. I can't be the only person who does this right? How to Lose Fat and Keep It Off (3/4)  This is a continuation of my 8 simple tips to help you lose weight and keep it off. It’s important that you read these tips in order. If you missed the first half, go back and read them now.  5. Eat enough protein  Don’t worry. You won’t turn into a bro or damage your kidneys. In fact, protein is one of the most important nutrients when you are attempting to lose fat.  There are only a few factors that can help ensure the weight you lose is fat and not muscle. Let’s face it, no one wants to lose 20 pounds only to realize that it was all muscle. Protein intake is one of those factors.  Studies show that “high-protein” diets help you hold on to lean mass better than “normal-protein” diets. But how much is “high”? It appears there is a threshold mark around 1.6g/kg/day. For those of you not on the metric system, this comes out to about 0.72grams of protein per pound of bodyweight.  Not only does protein help you keep muscle (which in turn helps you burn more calories), it is one of the most satiating nutrients, which means you will feel full for longer. This is muy importante when it comes to sustaining your diet over time.  6. Eat enough fiber  Fiber is often overlooked when it comes to diets for fat loss. Instead of demonizing certain nutrients, simply try to add in more fiber. It plays many roles in overall health from helping to regulate digestion, to feeding the gut microbiome, to lowering cholesterol, to reducing your risk of certain cancers, to improving brain health.  Not impressed by all the health benefits? Fiber, like protein, is another highly satiating nutrient. On top of that, our body does not digest most fibers and instead we absorb its energy after its digested by our microbiome. This means the amount of calories that you take in is actually less than normal carbohydrates. These two together mean that you will fill up faster and be in a higher caloric deficit (more comfortable weight loss)  A
