Put up some fence today around some bean stubble and a strip of grass to graze off. The pics are of how I do my corners and how I use pvc pipe and t posts to tighten poly rope. Later on this field will be used for laying out round bales for bale grazing this winter. #grazing#balegrazing#rotationalgrazing#beef#farmlife
Traffic Jam 🤣 Everyone is excited to see a little green again before everything starts freezing. Marjorie is feeling better! She was in her stall for less than 24 hours before she decided to bust out.. literally. 🙄🙄🙄 As someone who hasn't owned livestock for a very long time, I would encourage anyone starting out to find a mentor (or three). There will be times when a vet can't make it to you fast enough. It's important to have friends nearby to call in an emergency. ♥️
Thank you to @umesheepgoat for a great conference! Great presentations, lovely facility, a good group of growing graziers, and a nice lunch. My brain is stuffed full; glad to be able to review presentations later to keep working on my grazing skills. #grassfarming#rotationalgrazing#sheepfarm

Yesterday we framed up inside the pump house and laid a floor (ceiling? 🤔) in preparation for making a form to pour a concrete roof. Also, check out the distinctive line where topsoil and shale meet in the second photo. We have a good foot of topsoil on this hilltop pasture and are building more all the time with #rotationalgrazing. #soilhealth#farmprojects
Rosie says don’t talk to me or my daughter ever again...😂 Anna is pretty smug looking but if you had a 1500lbs momma to back you up, you’d probably look pretty smug too! Rosie isn’t very maternal towards Anna anymore as Anna is 2 years old, treating her more as just another member of the herd. Anna still looks to Rosie when she is unsure and still follows her around a bit but Rosie is more concerned about her new babies. Anna is a bit privileged in that her mom is second in command in this herd and therefore doesn’t have to fight for her place as much as the other calves or replacement heifers. I’m wondering if Rosie will be breaking her black heifer streak in December or if she’ll stay predictable. What do y’all think?
