I didn't know it then, but rejection is one of life's best teachers - if you let it. Growing up I was unpopular, uncool, didn't dress right, and not even the top of my class because I went to a very competitive school district. I obsessed over boys. College applications were important too. And there were times my junior and senior year in high school when nothing seemed to go right in my mind. More often than not #successful people face #failure and #rejection even more than average, but use those times as learning opportunities instead of road blocks. Fail forward is a popular phrase and I know that by subscribing to it I have significantly broadened my perspective and also forgiven myself a lot on the way. That's why I am resilient and I have thick skin today. That's why words don't hurt me (hi trolls, have fun staying poor!), and why some people would say I'm strong. What are some ways you have learned from rejection? Photo by @brianamoore #debtfreecommunity#debtfreeliving#debtfreejourney#retirement#personalfinance#money#wealth#earlyretirement#investing

You are only going to reach FINANCIAL FREEDOM if you do what others are not willing to do. You have to be frugal when other people spend, you have to save when other people waste, and you have to work and hustle when other people go party … but let me tell you: It is so worth it! . I achieved financial independence because I have been frugal throughout my life (I still am!), endorsed inconvenience, started to invest very early, and because I didn't do a lot of things other people considered to be "fun". Most importantly, I stopped comparing myself to others which not only saved me a ton of money over the years, but also gave me peace of mind. . Frugality is absolutely KEY when it comes to reaching financial freedom and it created the base for me to invest. Frugality keeps you focused on the price and firmly grounded in reality which can give you both direction and motivation. The best thing about frugality, though, is that it teaches you to say ‘No’ to other people when things come up that you are not interested in doing. If you want financial freedom, there is no way around FRUGALITY. . Frugality shows that you respect money, and only when you respect money will you ATTRACT more money. So, if you take only one thing away from this post here, PLEASE appreciate the power of frugality and how it can bring about both financial independence as well as peace of mind! . Best, . Well, I’m officially retired from the craft fair / print fair circuit! This day has been coming for a while now, I’m just not into it like I used to be and I wanna spend my weekends with my family. I’m not gonna stop designing & Northern Craft, I’m just not making the effort to do fairs anymore. Next year marks 10 years of selling my shit to people so it’d be a shame if I didn’t commemorate that somehow. Thanks to everybody who has allowed me to be at their event over the years, @northerncraft @etsyteamleeds @manchesterprintfair @hepworthwakefield @renegadecraft @craftybastards @flatstock and many many more. And thanks to everybody who bought a print, or supported my work over the years, @awesomemerch @sxsw @spotifyuk to name a few. Special shout to my brother from a shitty mother @markbrickey for helping me every step of the way. #cot4lyf
Sticks and stones may break my bones but most words will never hurt me. I'm not saying to ignore everyone. There is wisdom out there from mentors - a lot, listen to them. And as long as you work for a boss, you risk being fired if boss doesn't like you. And if you care about friendships and family and all that you need to maintain relationships (I nearly fucked up one earlier this week but we're good now ❤️). However a lot of times you need to shut out opinions. Especially the naysayers. The people who want you to fail when you start a business. The people who don't understand why you do what you do. The people who judge you on your outside. The people who are broke while you trying to get rich. The people who judge you for how you choose to spend or save or invest your money because personal finance is personal. Be careful about who you stake your opinion of self on. It can make or break your ability to succeed. #debtfreecommunity#debtfreeliving#debtfreejourney#retirement#personalfinance#money#wealth#earlyretirement#finance#personalfinance#goals
Becoming a millionaire really is this simple. Live on less than you make. Invest the difference. Let compound growth do the work over time. Why doesn't everyone do this? Well as Warren Buffet says, "because nobody wants to get rich slowly". The math in this example assumes a 10% return on your investment. That's about what the US stock market has averaged over the last 100 years. Sure, this doesn't take into account inflation, but it also assumes no raises over the 40 years as most people are likely to increase their income and investments over time. An index fund is a simple way to invest in an entire market. Check my other posts on what is an index fund. A Roth IRA is a special "Individual Retirement Account". Any money invested in your Roth IRA is never taxed again. That's how you end up with over $2M at retirement tax free. Spend a little less during your working years and you get to be wealthy at retirement. (Spend a lot less, and you can retire earlier!) As always, reminding you to build wealth by following the two PFC rules: 1.) Live below your means and 2.) Invest early and often. - Jeremy #indexfund#rothira#retirement#retire#earlyretirement#financialindependence#millionaire#millionairemindset#taxes#taxfree
