The joy of having a baby often overshadows the pains and soreness a new mother experiences. This sometimes makes a mother forget that her recovery is as crucial as her baby's growth. Hence, it's time for you to get a postnatal massage and bid goodbye to your fatigue and body aches. Here are the main reasons why you'd need a postpartum massage after giving birth: 1. Get rid of body pain After delivery, you might be suffering body pains at different times while constantly feeling weak and exhausted. Postpartum massage will help you to ease the muscle pain and improve your flow of blood in order to get rid of body pain in confinement. 2. Increase the production of milk Another bonus point of a postpartum massage is that it will help to increase prolactin hormone, which works to increase the production of breast milk. 3. Reduce stretch marks For mothers who spot post-pregnancy stretch marks on their bodies and would like to get rid of them, here's one benefit you'll particularly like. Stretch marks can be lightened if your body is massaged regularly using almond or any herbal oil because these oils have the property of moisturising skin and smoothing out the wrinkles. 4. Provide relaxing effects Relaxation is the most important thing that mothers need after delivery as you can enjoy some 'ME' time to boost happy moods. A body massage will cause your body to release endorphins which, in turn, relieves your pain and stress. All in all, a postpartum massage will be able to greatly assist in your recovery after delivery. Today I've had my 6 month check up with my dentist and lovely clean with my hygienist at @thedentalbarnsmile Alison shared a really interesting fact with me today. Studies have show that gum disease can lead to premature birth. I was surprised to hear that the health of our mouth can have an impact on our pregnancy and birth! So pregnant ladies please take care of your mouths. NHS Dental Care is free during pregnancy and up until your child is a year old. All you need is your Maternity Exemption Certificate. You can even claim for a refund if your certificate hasn't arrived in time. Sending love to the people who sometimes don’t want to talk, whilst I prefer to talk about things that are bothering me I totally understand that some people don’t feel comfortable doing this, a little note to say I’m thinking of you and offer a little encouragement to find your tribe or that someone to talk to 🌿 you can do this xx
. . . #enceinte#grossesse#futuremaman#maman2019#maman2020#grossesse2019#grossesse2020#teamgrosbidon#mamansportive#fitmaman#mamanfit#maternité#postnatal#enceinteetsportive#grossessesportive#grossesseactive#viesaine#bouger#mangerbouger#fitmumfrance#coachsportif#sport#fitfrenchies#fitnessfrance#fitpregnancy

Check out this fab post talking about prolapse and sex, one of the many questions I get asked in my clinic #mypfmambassadors#mypfm#repost @mypelvicfloormuscles (@get_repost) ・・・ Sex and prolapse... 𝗪𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐩𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐞? According to my friend and urogynecologist @drdarashalom : “Many patients ask me whether or not they can have sex when they have pelvic organ prolapse. And the answer is ABSOLUTELY. Having sex will not cause damage to your bladder or uterus. You may need to try different positions, or use a lubricant, to make sex more comfortable. Don’t be afraid to try things out. And if you have pain, speak to your doctor about different treatment options. “ Dr. Dara Shalom Urogynecologist and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgeon ✅Check her ⬆️ out friends! She’s new to IG! 𝗪𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐢𝐭? Don’t be! Chances are very HIGH that the penetrating object (usually a penis) will have no idea you have prolapse. Still not sure? Try inserting your own finger or fingers into your vaginal canal while lying down or reclining. Do they slide in easily? What do you feel? The penis is likely to be even less able to differentiate what it’s feeling than your fingers are! 𝗪𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐭? This depends and varies between individuals. Other factors can also affect this like overactive pelvic floor

What are YOUR goals? The only person YOU should be competing with is yourself. It's so easy to compare yourself to others, especially with all of the images on social media and fad diets making ridiculous unachievable claims that are only setting you up to fail. Appreciate that results take time and effort, and appreciate the small steps you take towards your goal. Whether your goal is weightloss, gaining muscle, getting fitter, trying to eat healthier etc be your own biggest cheerleader and celebrate the small wins you make because when you are in it for the long run you will get there! Each and every small win you have will add up eventually to huge results!
CARING CIRCLE 👐👐👐 Waking up to find food parcels on our doorstep this morning after a busy night with the baby has given me such a boost I can't explain. ❤ THANKYOU ❤ I am so grateful to our friends and family who have rallied round to support us with bringing hot meals and offers of housework! A friend suggested to create a "caring circle" where friends spread visits out over the first initial weeks of the baby being born with food and practical help to support the new parents with healing, sleep deprivation and love. It feels so incredibly supportive. I think if everyone could do more of this then loneliness, the inability to cope and post-natal depression would be far less of an issue in our isolated society. #givethegiftofbeinghelpful#community#caringcircle#postnatal#newborn#grateful#healing#thankyou @miss_katb 😘😘😘😘😘
The role of the Doula is to ‘Mother the Mother’ . Doula-ing: The act of educating, loving, respecting, listening, embracing, holding space, protecting and encouraging women in all pregnancy, birth and postnatal situations. . But what does that actually look like? . I like to think of it this way… Could you run a marathon by yourself? Of course you could! It would require training, preparation and hard work but you could absolutely navigate your way though the journey and make it to the finish line all by yourself. Imagine though that along the way you had a support person; a running coach, someone to hand you water, offer positive affirmations and point out your milestones along the way. What if that person had run a marathon of their very own, coached others to find their own unique running style and supported many before you to make it to the finish line feeling accomplished and empowered regardless of how they got there? . This is what a doula does for you. I am there to provide physical, emotional and educational support for you and your partner on your journey to parenthood. I support women to birth in any way they choose with kindness, respect and without judgement. I care that women feel empowered with choice and options regardless of how a birth unfolds. I protect your desired birthing space and emotionally hold space for you at every transition point. . You’ve got this mama and I’ve got your back 🥰
Postnatal Depression (PND) can affect both mothers and fathers in the first year following the birth of their baby. It can begin at anytime and is quite common with 20% of mothers and 5% of fathers affected in Ireland. It can be difficult for the person affected to recognize that they may have PND so for the purpose of this post, I have set out signs and symptoms of PND. You may be feeling: * Sad, anxious, and alone * Guilty, irritable and angry * Experiencing panic attacks * Not enjoy being with people, even your baby Other symptoms may include: * Loss of appetite * Poor concentration * Tiredness all the time * Problems sleeping * Being agitated * Crying easily Feelings and thoughts you might experience include: * Feeling inadequate, panicked, rejected by your baby, and worrying a lot about your baby If you are feeling disconnected from your baby, family, and friends - reach out as we are here to help! #postnatal#postnataldepression#signsandsymptoms#newparents#pnd#mentalhealth#mentalhealthawareness#maternalmentalhealth#naas#kildare#ireland#newmoms#newdads#dublin#emotionalsupport#evidencebasededucation#professionaladvice I’m
