Shoulder bridge : . This exercise mobilises, stabilises, stretches and strengthens the muscles in your posterior chain and is extremely beneficial for your lumbar spine, glutes, back extensors, hamstrings, quadriceps and abdominal muscles. The shoulder bridge should be smoothly articulated as you lift through your spine; creating focus on your core muscles (transverse abdominals and pelvic floor) and pelvic stability. The pelvic tilt at the beginning and end of the bridge is essential for improving the mobility and strength of your lumbar spine, therefore helping to decrease your risk of injury and lower back pain. . As your hips begin to lift upwards, you should imagine your spine as a strip of Velcro, gently peeling away from the floor, each vertebra at a time. As you drive your hips up towards the ceiling, you should gently push through the balls of your feet, tracking your knees and creating stability through both of your legs. Throughout the movement, your glutes and hamstrings should remain engaged and your spine and quadriceps should feel as though they are gently lengthening until you reach a diagonal ‘ski slope’ position. When you reach this position, aim to hold your shoulder bridge for at least a few moments, keeping your hips lifted and glutes engaged. As you begin to gently roll back down to the floor, each vertebra of your spine should make contact with the mat. You should maintain full muscle engagement until your body reaches complete contact with the mat, to gain the upmost benefit from this exercise. . Practicing the shoulder bridge on a regular basis will not only help your mobility and strength, but also improve your posture, as a result of stretching and strengthening your back and hip extensors and flexors. It will also contribute to toning your glutes when performed on a regular basis. By regularly executing the shoulder bridge, it will encourage you to be completely aware of your spine and also help to release tension, brought about by

We begin the stroke immediately lateral to the spine, inferior to the level of the scapula. Our contact can be wide here so we can use the full width of the base of the palm of the hand. 🖐🏽 🖐🏽 . We support our contact with the thumb web of the other hand. This is an excellent brace because it will allow us, in a moment, to change the orientation of the contact to be narrower, but still be easily and comfortably supported. 👍👍 . As we arrive between the spine and the medial border of the scapula, if our hand is too wide to fit, we can change the orientation of our contact hand by supinating slightly the forearm so that our contact narrows toward the ulnar side of the hand. And our brace thumb web easily accommodates this. 👏🏼👏🏼 . This stroke is called a “scoop” stroke because we round it around the superior angle of the scapula by changing our direction from inferior to superior to be medial to lateral. It has a scoop shape to it. 👍👍 . This area is even narrower and requires an even smaller contact area, perhaps the actual ulnar side of the hand, or more specifically the pisiform as a very specific contact. 👍👍 .
