Last day in #nyc with @chrislatham and her family. It was amazing. . . Visited with her Cousin Susan Latham and found Latham Park, named after their grandfather William H. Latham. Notably, there’s also a boat at Niagara Falls named after him. He was one of the original city developers with Robert Moses! #royalty . . . Finally walked down Broadway and found #jerryorbach Way, aka W. 53rd street, and couldn’t help but think of @johnmulaney as I looked at this sign with my own two eyes. Simply had to take a picture, although I’m sure he gets 100s of these. . . . That’s it NYC. Many many thanks. This really is the city that doesn’t sleep! Check out that last picture of Grand Central at 1:00 a.m! . . . #newyorkcity #nyc #nycstories #latham #grandcentralstation #jerryorbachseyes #manhattan #queens #jacksonheights #inoneweekionlysawonerat

One night out with the family each month just to remind them they mean everything. I'm learning to BE .... Each moment of time easily passing by like sand thru the fingertips of the almighty God... Fast but counted each individually numbered and loved. I caught them looking at the moon we had a talk that Everytime you see the moon in person it looks amazing but it's hard to capture it on your phone good enough.... I think I proved them wrong .... Probably not 😂😂😂😂😭 #itried

MacDougal Street, Greenwich Village, where our #nyc adventure started. @nycimagery and @muxisium had been in a sublet on Sullivan Street for the summer of 2016, it was time to come „back home“, when she called me and said she is signing an apartment lease on 14th street and needed first, last, and a security deposit. And here we are... @arikropf is now representing the fam in #brooklyn #greenwichvillage #macdougal #nycstories #nycliving #humansofnewyork
Half of one day in NYC. Yeah, we’ve seen and done a lot. Front row seats on Broadway, the Public Library, the UN, Grand Central Terminal, Central Park, and more and more. #nyc #nycstories #lifeisgood #eataburrito #ilovemywife
So, today something interesting happened. By interesting, it was something that could’ve had a completely negative outcome that turned out to be the complete opposite. . I’d finished a meeting in the city, and walked across the park to catch my train line. It was lunchtime so I decided today was a day for no salad, but a treat lunch. No line and actual tables open at the beloved burger joint!! A rare occurrence, especially on a Friday. Since I was by myself, I got my order, and parked the only things I could at the moment to hold a table when I got my food at the counter: jacket with a broken zipper, cup of water, napkins, ketchup, my receipt, etc. But by the time I got back, there was a woman and toddler sitting at my table. She’d moved my coat and whatever was on the tabletop over to where the trays were piled, and set down her things. Uh, what?? I was furious! I was gone for three minutes, and she set aside my coat and things like they were trash! She looked up at me: “Oh, were these your things?” I told her yes, and that it was only me and this was the only way I could ensure a seat. We continued to argue for a bit, but I already had my food and by that time couldn’t go searching for another spot. She also had a small child with her and I knew how hard it was to navigate strollers in that space. So, I suggested we both sit at the table and eat together. Though she initially seemed a little hesitant, she agreed, probably for the same reasons I knew to stay. We introduced ourselves, and I introduced myself to her grandson as well. Long story short, we talked and talked about everything from the American Natural History Museum to Baryshnikov to teaching and living in and around NYC. It ended up being quite the delightful surprise lunch! . In a place especially like NYC, you really never know what to expect. But I gotta say, it’s moments like these that I do cherish the most 💚💙💫 ~ cc . #nyc #nycstories #i❤️ny #ithappenedoverlunch

New York. New York is the city where I lived for 3 months in total and that I have very complex relationship with. Not complicated, but complex cause I can never describe it in one sentence and every single time I visit it I leave with a new perception of it. My first time in New York (and in U.S. in general) was when I was just a kid (well, a teenager, but potato-pot-ah-to) and it was my first real experience of being abroad. I remember all the excitement I had when I left to the airport, that 10-hour flight, every minute of which I’ve spend with images of Manhattan that I’ve seen in the movies. I remember being picked up by a taxi, driving off from JFK and arriving to Brooklyn. I remember my initial disappointment, cause 3 to 5-stories buildings in south Brooklyn looked nothing like all those high rises you keep seeing in TV shows. And I remember getting out of subway when I first arrived to Manhattan, standing on an escalator with my head up and my jaw hanging down. I absolutely loved it. I felt alive and I was pissing my pants from happiness (or not, at this point it’s hard to tell). My excitement was so gargantuan that I never wanted to leave and was instantly dreaming of migrating there, getting enrolled in a college, etc. I loved the pulse of the city, its beauty, its avid culture and nice people (yes, after a lifetime in Moscow New Yorkers do appear nice). I loved the assortment of foods and fizzy drinks in stores, tons of great landmarks, skyscrapers surrounding me wherever I’d go, fast pace, yellow taxis and all that jazz (both literally and figuratively).
