Missing my twists π if youβre new to my journey, I like to twist my hair on washdays, wear twists for a few weeks, then unravel for a twistout, then repeat. Depending on how much time I have on washday, Iβll either make my twists small/mini (takes forever) or medium/chunky (takes less time). I feel like mini twists allows my hair to stretch more. But, I love that chunkier twists take less time to do and they donβt look too different from my minitwists when I style them in buns and braid crowns. . . . . I usually maintain my twists the same way as I maintain my loose hairβI sleep using the banding method with my twists wrapped in a satin scarf. If my twists feel unmoisturized, I will lightly spray them with water +leave in conditioner mix, then seal the moisture in with a light oil. If my twists are very unmoisturized, Iβll rub some creamy leave in conditioner onto my hands and then squeeze the product along the length of the twists, then seal that in with a light oil. (Iβm a big believer in using a few staple products that work for you. I like to use almond oil and the Cantu leave in repair cream as my creamy leave in). . . . I think the key for me in keeping my twists looking decent for a few weeks is to ALWAYS tie my hair down with a satin scarf right after I remoisturize, and always do so at night. This keeps my flyaways laid and keeps my twists looking fresh. . . . For my scalp, I like to apply a light oil mix every few days to keep it moisturized. The combo varies depending on what I have laying aroundβusually avocado, almond, grape seed, JBCO. I also apply a little peppermint oil to my scalp if itβs feeling itchy (be careful with peppermint oil if you use it make sure to dilute it with a carrier oils because it can burn if used alone). . . . I wore my last set of twists (on the right) for about 3 weeks (I washed after week 2 which I never usually do, but my scalp was asking for it). Then wore a twistout for about 2 weeks. . .
