Finally put up the vintage United atomic clock I envisioned in the dining room. And it still works like a charm! One of the things I love about collecting vintage for so many years is that there's often times a story behind the original owner or a past life it had. This one was very touching. The lady I got it from said it belonged to her 81 year-old mother (still living) who got it from her husband as a gift one year back in the 60's for Christmas and it has hung over her mantel for many, many years. Her mother had spotted it in a store and it took her husband a year to pay it off because they struggled financially. But now that she was older she was downsizing and selling some belongings off for extra money. I assured her it was going to a very loving home, sent her photos after I put it up, and that it would be with us for a very long time...that made her very happy 😄💖. . . #atomicclock#unitedclock#starburstclock#atomicdecor#vintageclock#vintageatomic#midcenturyclock#1960sdecor#1960sclock#myvintageinterior#kitschyhome#colorfulhome#moreismoredecor#myvintagehome#midcenturydecor
Hello to all of our new followers/page likes! If you're not familiar with Old Grace Gathering Co., I'll give you a little re-cap ;) We're a sustainable home decor shop that focuses on super cool and unusual vintage and antiques, but we also just launched our new Apothecary collection last week! (It's filled with organic and small-batch, USA-made skin care, home care and self care.) We have been trying to open our brick-and-mortar retail location for nearly 2 years now. Countless issues out of our control have been thrown our way, but I'd like to think we've handled it with (old) Grace - after the tears, of course - because THREE locations have fallen through but we just keep truckin'. I'm a firm believer that good things happen to those who are good, kind people (and also work their asses off), and what is meant to be will work out in the right timing. We're closer than ever with our third potential store location, and hope to bring our whimsical little flagship store to Beaufort, SC in 2020. As such, you'll currently find our online store is FILLED to the brim with lovely finds and unusual treasures until then. We have a traveling bus shop that we converted from a junky Craigslist find lovingly called, Melvin the Mini Bus. Since its launch in 2016, it has been featured in several national magazines and publications and acclaimed as "the cutest bus in the country." We're thankful you've decided to stop by and check us out! (And for those of you who choose to shop sustainable for gifts for the holidays, YOU DA BEST.)
Busy, busy day today but took five minutes with a cup of tea to gaze out of the window at the changing colours of the leaves: red, gold and green. I love a long car journey as a passenger there’s not much to do apart from window gaze. I love being outside in nature but when I can’t I try and at least try and look at it and apparently even that can benefit your stress levels!
. . . 🇬🇧Saturday we papered this wall. first I wanted to completely paper it. but Arno persuaded me to do something creative with it. and I must say: I really like it! What do you think?
*CLOSING UP SHOP* After a few months of really thinking about it, I've decided that my shop days are done for now. I have a job I love and want to dedicate all my attention to when I'm there, and then a family I want to spend all my time with when I'm not working. This was a hard decision as I've loved owning and operating my own business, but this season of life is calling me in a different direction. THANK YOU to all my customers and to all of you who have followed along! As a thank you gift, I've marked everything in my shop down by 60%. YES YOU READ THAT CORRECTLY. Everything is 60% off and if you spend over $35 you get free shipping! The sale runs until next month or until everything is gone, so hurry! If you'd like to see what I'm up to now, please follow @femmwithkayla!
The rain is pelting down out there today, and while I'd love nothing better than to batten down the hatches and spend the afternoon watching the nightmare before Christmas and eating stew under a blanket with the kids unfortunately I have to brave the weather and go to work 😭 Oh well, this lovely print from @ladygraygraphics is reminding me that "when it rains look for rainbows", so I guess I'll try and look on the brightside and appreciate the fact that going to work means I get to wear makeup and clean clothes and spend a few hours chatting to actual adults. I might even have a fancy coffee. And drink it while it's hot!.... Also I'll miss bedtime! 🎉🎉🎉 So yeah, there is a bright side 😂 This print was very kindly #gifted to me, and it's a beauty. It's fitting in very well beside Emilia's judgy lama. #ladygrayrep#ladygraygraphics#myinspiringinterior#myvintageinterior#myvintageabode#makedoanddiy#myhouseandhome#myinteriorstyletoday#kidsroomdecor#kidsroom#kidsroomdecor
Back to pink! The table pumpkins got a little makeover this weekend, along with a new wall mural 👏👏👏 I had a pastel sky scene here when we had our doll’s table out, it was a super simple cloud effect with chalk pastels (I actually remembered to take a ‘before’ shot) but when we moved the dolls house back to the playroom I wanted something that suited the table more. Myself and Daniel (our 6 year old) agreed on a rainbow...of sorts 😉 He helped me draw it out with string, a thumbtack and a pencil and then I was left to my own devices while he drew his own “proper” rainbow 😂 I went with left over tins of paint, mostly @colourtrendpaints from previous schemes, Elfin, Beag and Stuccowork are all featured here 👍 I’m not convinced it’s completely finished yet, the teal is not 100% what I’m after and I’m also thinking a gold band would look fab here so may call on Bronagh @foxhollowstyle for some paint advice on this, she is the queen of gold lines! The ombre effect was spontaneous so still debating whether to keep this or not 🤔 I love how Jess @jessjones.the_art_room achieved her rainbow stairs with blocks of colour so I’d say I’ll be returning to this but for now I’ll let it be, it sits really well here and even the OH said “it looks like it’s always been there” so we’re on the tight track. The pumpkins got a coat of some of the soft colours and then a little blossom addition, sure why not, I wonder what other alterations they’ll have before October is done 😁🌸💕 Happey Monday everybody x - - - - - #crashbangcolour#givemeallthecolor🌈 #styleitreal#pinkinmygaff#thiscreativehome creativehome #walltowallstyle#colorlovedecor#myeclecticshack#apartmenttherapy#creatorsie#irishdiyers#sharing_creatives #myvintageinterior#pimpupmypad#pretty_small_spaces #retrohauls#scrollstoppinghome#52shadesofgray#themoderndiy#paintedwall#pinkhome#artistic_dome #myhouseandhome#mybombshellhome
. . 🍂🍃 AUTUMN🍃🍂 What a wonderful fall day it was today! I even sat in the sun outside 🌞. Inside it was also nice and light, so I made a lot of pictures 😃. Have you had a great Sunday?
. coffee corner . . grey and rainy days seem to double the coffee comfort. Freshly ground beans brewed, aromas whirling. A deep breath, anticipating that taste. Another life's constant. A grounding comfort. Sit back and relax. Come back, stop, take stock. Still, the scent is the All, the promise never quite kept in the cup. However, there are truly wonderful flavours and fabulous roasts out there now! Back then, the flavour mostly stayed behind in the filter. It was never the promise it made tentalising your nose. There was also the effect on the stomach. It made me go mad over tea and tea time, first flush and never a tea bag in sight. The odd coffee, the french au laits, cappuccino it became, that replaced the tea, and it has become reliably good, so much choice. Coffee Corner Back in the time my grandparents had that coffee grinder, I never experienced it used but I knew it was there. Mum says said grandfather made the best coffee, he was obsessed. I get that. I smelled their coffee time ritual, it drew me in, like this beautiful battered old grinder, that no one wanted apart from me. Hooked for ever. That aroma. That taste. .
