Wist je dat? De decembermaand een maand is waar ik dit jaar erg tegenop kijk? 🎅Vorig jaar kregen we rond deze tijd te horen dat mijn vader was uitbehandeld en kort daarna hebben wij afscheid van hem moeten nemen. De feestdagen zullen voor mij dit jaar minder feestelijk zijn, omdat hij hier dit jaar voor het eerst niet meer bij zal zijn. Wist je dat? Ik mezelf mentaal en fysiek ontzettend bezig aan het houden ben om zo veel mogelijk afleiding te creëeren, waardoor de momenten dat ik even niks doe, ik mijn kleine mental breakdowns heb. 🤯 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Ik krijg vaak te horen dat ik het allemaal zo goed doe, zo sterk ben, het maar volhoud en doorzet. Ondertussen loopt bij mij het emmertje soms even over, dan ben ik niet vooruit te branden, mijn hoofd er niet bij of lig ik het liefst heel de dag in mijn bed.😴 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Een voltijd HBO studie, werken in de kinderopvang, 5x in de week sporten, gestructureerd eten, vakantie planningen maken, een wedstrijd willen doen, sociaal leven onderhouden. Ja soms is het even te veel.. en soms put het me ook uit, maar... dan zie je de voldoendes op je beeldscherm verschijnen, de progressie die je lichaam maakt, complimenten die je krijgt van je coach, de steun momenten van manlief, familie en vriendinnen, de stem en positieve flow van papa die mij vertelt dat je moet genieten van het leven.❤️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Dat tovert de glimlach op mijn gezicht en maakt mij sterk genoeg om door te gaan, niet bij de pakken neer te gaan zitten en bereid om mijn doelen te bereiken. Belangrijk is dat je niet altijd weet wat er achter een lachend gezicht schuilt en het plaatje soms mooier lijkt dan het daadwerkelijk is. Give yourself some credit how far you've come 💪🏼

Get a good booty pump with this workout! Save it and try it out next time.⁣ ⁣ If you have a hard time firing up your glutes when you do hip thrusts or glute bridges, these little tweaks might help you.⁣ ⁣ 💎 Banded and weighted dumbbell glute bridges (4x15)— I’ve always had trouble finding that sweet spot to get my glutes fires up. It was either hurting my back or feeling it too much on my abs. Adding a hip band and weights will increase tension on your glutes. One thing I did differently that really hit the spot is the posterior pelvic tilt while keeping my sternum and rib cage facing upwards the entire movement. Doing so takes you away from using abs to drive up the hip and enforces you to rely on your glutes to drive up the hips.⁣ 💎 Hip thrusts(4x10 superset with hip abduction )— for the longest time I always kept a neutral spine and neck throughout this exercise. Tweaks I’ve learned to use more glutes is to look forward, chin to chest, maintain the sternum and rib cage parallel to the floor throughout the entire motion so when you extend the hips up with a posterior pelvic tilt, majority of the force will drive from the glutes and not your lower back.⁣ 💎 Banded Hip abductions(4x20)— keep your feet pointed outward and about shoulder width apart. Been MIA since getting back from Miami and I wish I could say it was for good reasons but the truth is that I haven’t felt like myself lately. Tired. Lethargic. No motivation to train. Body and brain burnt out. Days I threw in the towel and gave up and didn’t leave my house. Day I ate over my macros bc I was sad. Days I didn’t eat bc I had no appetite. Today was the first day in about a week that I’ve felt like “me.” . I’m still hella insecure when I look in the mirror, but I’m improving daily and that’s all I care about. Sometimes even taking it day by day is too daunting and you have to take it hour by hour (even minute by minute). Just trying to show that we’re all human and we’re allowed to have moments of weakness, as long as you pick yourself back up and keep going.

Sorry for being so inactive lately.. I just wasn’t feeling like posting a lot so I didn’t. I’m back in my training routine and I love it!💪🏼But for me it’s really hard that it’s so dark all the time. It’s time to STOP feeling guilty for being SELFISH ! . It can be really easy to run ourselves into the ground, especially at this time of the year. Saying “no” to plans with friends or cancelling last minute can make me feel like I’m letting people down, or that I’m not doing enough to cater to other people’s needs, or even make me think that I’m making them feel angry or unwanted. 😭😕 . It’s time to put a stop ✋🏼 to that kind of thinking. Saying no is a form of self care. By creating boundaries for ourselves we allow our energy to be prioritized where we need it the most in that moment! Are you really being selfish if you NEED that time to recharge or prioritize your tasks? . Maybe we should shift our perspective a bit and re define what selfishness really is? A way I’ve been trying to do this is by understanding that I need to to what’s best for myself FIRST and then I’m able to distribute my energy however I please! Also, not allowing other people’s perception of my “selfishness” (ie looking after myself) negatively impact me. How another person defines selfishness should not be a determining factor in our actions!!! . At the end of the day, we can’t really be our best selves if we can’t do things FOR OURSELVES!! Creating boundaries is something I’ve really struggled with but lately I’ve been working on making decisive actions that put me and my well-being FIRST in order to avoid BURNOUT 🔥 . .  Hope you all have a fab day, set some boundaries for yourself, and smash your goals ☀️💕
