Coming to the end of the year & so amazed by the beautiful journey 2019 has been! I ran a couple 50k’s and a 50m which felt so out of my comfort zone but SO RIIIIGHT at the same time. I started working for Salomon and @salomonsquadpnw brought me LIFE It’s safe to say I’ve tried many hydration vests, shoes and it’s hard to think of an absolute favorite gear item but I will. I wanted to talk about the @salomonrunning Ultra Pro’s and how much I love them but most of you already know that. They are my go-to shoe for all things The best gear item for me this year was the @salomon S/LAB SENSE ULTRA 5 SET (and the 8 set they are both amazing). There are so many vests out there but when it comes down to it, I LOVEEEEEE the minimalism of the sense ultra. It feels like I’m wearing nothing, it stretches and holds everything I need and whenever I’m done with a run, I jump in the shower with it to wash it off and it hang dries in like an hour. It’s easy to pack and it’s always been there for me. There are zippers and storage in all the right places and I honestly don’t need much more then this for most adventures. So thank you to Salomon for making something so absolutely perfect for me🥰 @Salomon #salomonfavorites#playhydrated
If you knew me well, you would know that I cannot function well when I’m cold. Hiking in summer was nice and easy but now when winter is fast approaching and temperatures are getting closer to freezing, having the right attire is more important than ever. That’s why, when hiking in winter, I’m wearing lots of layers and good quality wind and waterproof jacket and trousers! @revolutionrace #revolutionrace#natureisourplayground#hiking

Testimonial by @stromme from our CM Costa Rica Retreat: “The retreat itself is centered around a “challenge by choice” approach. In practice this means that you are encouraged to do as much or as little as you’d like. All ages and physical abilities were welcomed and the retreat was shaped for everyone to ensure we all got what we wanted out of the experience. Each morning and evening Tiare Vincent led us through a yoga flow overlooking the cloud forest around the retreat center. The first night of yoga we flowed through our practice during a thunder and lightning storm; it was breathtaking. Outside of yoga our activities centered around hiking, climbing, rappelling, or exploring the nature and wildlife. Downtime was spent reading in hammocks, taking in the constantly changing view of the forest, and connecting with each other. Before this trip I had never been on a retreat before and I had never planned such an active vacation. I was worried I might come back physically depleted; in actuality I came home replenished. The inward shift for me was so significant that when I returned to work my colleagues started approaching me about it. A few of the comments I received were “I feel calmer being around you”; “That trip was clearly so good to you, it seems like you’re floating”; “Keep that bliss and tell me how to get it!”. In short, if you’re trying to decide whether to sign-up for this retreat – do it. There is no way to convey how incredibly wonderful it is, you just have to experience it. I can say with complete confidence that it will be an incredibly meaningful and soul-filling adventure. Pura Vida!” — For the full testimonial, head to choosemountains.com

😁⠀ ⠀ ➖➖➖⠀ ⠀ One of the most beautiful moments on Madeira, sunrise at Pico do Arieiro! 🏔 ⠀ ⠀ There’s a road leading from Funchal to the peak, in just 30 minutes you pass from sea level to 1.818m, unbelievable! 🚗 ⠀ ⠀ The 360 degree view over the eastern part of the island is indescribable! 🌴 ⠀ ⠀ Is there a better way to start the day than this natural show? 😁
Well training might not be going exactly how I had planned for @thecoastalchallengeca due to life and weather but now that I have purple hair, it's bound to at least look really fun. 😛 #salomonsquad#timetoplay 📷: @trail_kat
It’s hard for me to admit but my time in Utah has come to an end. 😢 I’ve learned and grown so much since moving here. The memories that I’ve made in this past year are beyond anything I could have ever imagined and I am eternally grateful to the people that have been a part of my life here. I’ll see you soon LA ❤️

@mntntrailbird // “As much as I love the mountains, choosing them doesn’t always come easy. There was a time where I felt so fearless and eagerly set out on adventures that pushed my limits. After becoming a mother, I almost started to feel a sense of anxiety and apprehension to leave the comfort of my home and sweet child to go do something that still means so much to me. But, choosing mountains is what brings me back to myself. It grounds me and gives me new perspectives and inspiration for my life.” . . Let’s talk about sizing of outdoor clothing. I recently went into REI to purchase a puffy jacket and was super surprised at the sizing options. Granted I’ve gained probably 5-10 lbs since the last time I was shopping for outdoor apparel, but I’d say I’m pretty average sized. Not skinny by any means but also not very large. I found that a size XL jacket by @mountainhardwear was WAY too small on me. I couldn’t even zip it. Some other brands had slightly larger sizes (I ended up going with an XL @patagonia) but I still felt like the options were very limited. I thought to myself about how so much effort has gone towards asking for inclusive sizes from companies that create apparel such as jeans and athletic wear, which is awesome! But what about the ladies and gents that are not thin but want to get outside and be clothed properly? Literally the next day I received an email from a woman that couldn’t find hiking clothes that fit her @rei because she is size XXL and there weren’t any options. Is it just me, or is it time for outdoor apparel companies to create more inclusive sizes for those of us that don’t fit within size 0-14? I’d love to hear your thoughts! Maybe I’m missing brands that are doing a better job at this?
It’s not my children’s job to make me look good. If I was choosing a candidate for that role, it certainly wouldn’t be someone who lacks impulse control, cries over mismatched socks, eats soup with their fingers, and refuses to bathe. The only person whose job it is to make me look good (if looking good is even my thing, which it’s not) is me. Because that’s too much pressure for any other human. Especially a new-ish human who should be working to know herself, not working for my approval. So I don’t want to teach my children to behave in a way that makes me look good. I want to teach my children to BE good. How they affect my identity means nothing. But them finding their own identity means everything.

"For 7 years I have never been on a mountain adventure without BearBear by my side. Every alpine lake, every summit, every trip, he has always been by my side. It breaks my heart knowing one day his time will come and I will have to say goodbye to my best friend💔.
