Whatever is true... The first thing to ask ourselves is, "is this thought true?" Apparently, our internal reality is that whatever we're thinking feels true... But does that mean it's actually true? Whatever is noble, Whatever is right... Next, we ask... "If this is true, is it noble and right? Being noble and right are both associated with moral character. So, just because something is factually true doesn't mean it's worthy of our mental attention... We need to ascertain; if it's thought pleasing to God. Whatever is pure... Even when a thought seems noble, We can ask, "Has anything contaminated this thought? Whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable... We can ask, "What can I find this week that is lovely and admirable? This is about cultivating a habit of staying positive and looking out for only the good things life brings our way. Whatever is excellent and praiseworthy... We can ask, "How can I see God's hand in my situation this week?" This takes it one step beyond lovely and admirable. This is committing to seeing the divine intersect with our existence daily and praising God for it regardless of the tough times. It's much easier to just say "whatever" than to practice the "whatevers" given to us in Philippians. But when we choose to practice them, our thoughts and lives eventually become better. The Bible also says; We all are human and struggle with our thoughts. That's why "we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ". (2 Cor 10:5) Our thoughts can be like wild little things... We have to make them obedient because they don't do so willingly. Step by step, we have to take control of them. This takes time, effort, alot of practice and discipline, though. So, is it a thought that's true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent or praiseworthy? Is it a thought filled with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, forgiveness and self-control? If the answer is yes, rise up and keep on
