🍄 IMMUNITY 2.0 💫 There are lots of immunity boosting foods (vitamin C containing fruits and veg, garlic, ginger, turmeric) and supplements (vitamin D, oregano oil) to incorporate during cold and flu “season” but these are some of our household favorites: REISHI AND CHAGA MUSHROOM The queen and king of medicinal mushrooms. Reishi is the woody looking beauty I’m holding out of the bag. They’re both potent powerhouses of immunity. They boost your t-cells and help modulate your immune system to function optimally. Currently we like to make a strong elixir in the instapot: 4-5 large pieces of Reishi 3 tablespoons of chaga granules 1 quart of water Slow cook on medium for 6-8 hours, strain, and enjoy! You can add this elixir to your coffee, matcha, smoothies or make cacao lattes with it which is my personal favorite method. ELDERBERRY Elderberry is incredibly powerful at stimulating your immune system and can be taken preventively or in higher quantities at the first signs of illness. Studies have shown it to be effective at inhibiting certain strains of the flu, and shortening the length of time people were sick with the flu. Not all elderberry is created equal, however. I love the @organicolivia elderberry syrup because it’s made with vegetable glycerin instead of sugar like many other brands. Since it’s something that you may take several doses of, especially if you’re already sick, the sugar content can add up quick! Sugar compromises your immune system, so I like the idea of a sugar-free syrup. We just bought some organic elderberries and vegetable glycerin ourselves, so when we perfect a homemade elderberry syrup recipe I’ll share it with you guys! Other tips: Get proper sleep and try to de-stress! Your body can’t repair itself and fight off illness if you’re constantly in fight or flight mode. Oh, and DRINK ENOUGH WATER! Fim de semana 💃 tem almoço tarde, tem cozinhar com amigos, tem receita que é fácil e agrada todo mundo! E tb tem os segredos para um risoto sem erro!! . RISOTO DE ASPARGOS COM RASPAS DE LIMÃO E TIRAS DE PARMA 2 maços de aspargo (~30 unidades) em rodelas 2 xícaras arroz arbóreo 80g manteiga 1 1/2 xícara de queijo parmesão ralado (use a peça e rale em casa) 1/2 cebola picadinha 2 dentes de alho picadinho 2/3 xícara de vinho branco seco 2L caldo de legumes ou frango 1 limão siciliano (raspas) . 👩🍳refogue o alho e a cebola em um fio de azeite e uma colher de sopa de manteiga, até a cebola ficar macia. Junte o arroz e refogue por 3 minutos. Acrescente o vinho e espere o álcool evaporar (3 minutos). Vá colocando o caldo quente (muito importante estar QUENTE!! Deixe em fervura baixa enquanto preparar o risoto), cerca de 2 conchas por vez. Sempre em fogo médio alto. Mexendo. Após cerca de 15 minutos, quando o arroz começar a amolecer mas ainda estiver duro no meio, coloque os aspargos. Cozinhe o arroz até estar al dente, sempre regando com 1-2 conchas de caldo até secar. Desligue o fogo, acrescente uma conchinha de caldo, o queijo e a manteiga gelada em cubos. (Sim GELADA!! Ela dará cremosidade). Finalize com raspas de limão e lascas de Parma. Sirva imediatamente!!! 😋 . I believe in the power of this plant. I’m either working, taking care of my family, Studying, talking with clients. Which is everything I love with all my heart!!! But sometimes, I forget to schedule in a “time out” for me! I chose to make my actual birthday a day of rest, recharge, cuddle time with hubby, and nap cause I wanted too! Do you schedule a day of nothing, ever? It’s so nice!!! I promise ❤️
Have you even seen a such a big bouquet of kale?!?! We picked this up at the Crocker Park Farmers Market (for only $4.50!), and made delicious, crispy, cheesy kale chips. Kale is a powerhouse veggie that’s packed with nutrients, and has loads of benefits like improve digestion, fights inflammation, improves immunity, lowers cholesterol, and protects against heart disease! Here is an easy recipe to get some kale into your kiddos! You will need... - A few handfuls of BIG kale leaves - 2 tablespoons of nutritional yeast - 1 teaspoon of olive oil - 1/2 teaspoon Bragg liquid aminos *Preheat oven to 400 degrees (it should be warm for at least 10 minutes.) Rinse the kale leaves, then pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel. Tear the leaf parts from the stems, keeping the pieces as big as possible. Wash your hands really well. Then, in a mixing bowl, gently massage all the ingredients together. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Spread the kale leaves flat on top, making sure none overlap. Here’s the trick!...Turn the oven off, then put the kale inside and close the door quickly. Come back in 20 minutes to see if they are crisp enough. If they are… Eat up! And watch your kiddos enjoy a crunchy snack!
