Sometimes you’re the one in the swing, and sometimes you’re the one pushing it 🤣 . Seriously, though, I feel proudest of Vishnu when he insists on doing little things like this. It’s such a reminder of how even the smallest acts of care and kindness (in the smallest packages) can make a world of difference to someone... so try and seize every chance you can to add kindness anywhere you can. You never know who could need just that, and how much of a difference it can make 🌟
Sushi? Healthy? 🤔 Honestly, I hate classifying foods as healthy vs. unhealthy because at the end of the day, food = fuel. Sushi is one of my all time favorite meals. Obviously there are some rolls that have more calories than others. And some that are deep fried, filled with high calorie sauces, and aren’t really nutrient dense. My advice when going out for sushi is... 🍱 Eat the miso soup and ginger salad first! 🍲 🍱 Order 1-2 rolls of your fave sushi! 🍣 If it isn’t really nutrient dense, then maybe split it with a friend. 🍱 You can substitute the white rice with brown. 🍱 Listen to your body, if you’re full then pack up the rest to go! Listen to your hunger cues and don’t stuff your face just because you’re paying for it. 🍱 Lastly.....Eat the sushi with NO REGRETS or GUILT. “don’t be so sensitive!” “please stop crying.” “why are you still upset? you’re fine!” - when we, as humans, are going through a difficult period such as grief or pain or a major loss, we automatically try to push down our negative emotions as quickly as we can. and when our loved ones are sad, we try our best to comfort them and tell them “don’t cry” or “just move on” because we don’t want to see them in pain. - however, although our comments are usually stemmed from the best intentions, they actually end up being much more destructive. - when we try to numb or silence what we feel (or what others feel) and move on too quickly, then we will just keep repeating the same harmful patterns of unhealthy grief over and over again. there is such important growth that comes from mourning a loss or working through pain. so instead of pushing down our emotions, let’s learn to listen to them. and feel them all the way through. - here are some examples of helpful phrases to say to a loved one who is going through a difficult time: 1. your feelings are completely valid. 2. is there anything I can do to support you right now? 3. I see this is really impacting you. 4. thank you for having the courage to share that with me. 5. You know the kinda guys I grew up with at church (sorry to offend anyone , just my opinion 😆) just not my type . I went through a few years of walking away from God in my party days . I knew that a goody two shoe kinda guy , A. Wouldnt like me and B . I wouldnt like them 🤪 I knew for someome to capture my full attention , he would have to be alot of things . Including being ridiculously Hot . Hot but who loved Jesus .. Even the days I had strayed away from Christ , I always believed in Jesus and had a deep Iove for Him . And I also knew, that If I ever got married , he would have to love Jesus too. Period. Then I meet Jr . We met offcially on myspace , yup .. And you would die if you knew his name on there 😆 I had seen his pics , pics of him being single ,partying and all the things. But when I actually spent time with him, he was so different than the “ story “ of him I made up of him in my head . His soul was pure gold .. and all that rubbish was facade . One day ill share our entire love story , but How God orchestrated us coming together was just beautiful and perfect .. Maybe because it was our story . You best believe one of my first questions was if he was a Christian.. and ofcourse he said yes . ✞ When you marry someone , you marry them for everything they are and everything they have been through. I’ve spent some of my deepest, darkest moments alone. Hiding the fact I was depressed & didn’t feel like living anymore, solely because of the fact I had a standard to withstand - the standard of being positive, bubbly, & loving towards others 24/7 I am naturally a very optimistic, happy, loving soul... but that doesn’t mean I don’t hit lows/experience darkness. Before I moved to Florida I was living in Rhode Island & was in the darkest place of my life. I was going through a huge life transition, breakup, & was completely lost. I can vividly remember feeling so low & empty. I would cry for hours alone in my apt & pray to God for things to change. I was physically ill - I was experiencing chronic fatigue, anxiety, acne, chronic bloating + 718382 other digestive symptoms, chronic UTIS/kidney infections, brain fog, low immunity, dizziness/vertigo, mood issues, & more... my heart was shattered & I couldn’t see the light... So, I created some light. I intuitively knew I had to step forward with courage to heal myself & guide others to do the same. I can relate to 100% of all my clients. I understand what it’s like to be in such a low vibration - mentally, emotionally, physically, & spiritually! I’ve had a bit of time to reflect the past few days and I’ve been thinking about this time of year! The excitement, the pace that it moves, late night chats, the ocean, laughter, family, friends, sand between the toes, freckles! The build up of having a well deserved break from the craziness that is December and also just another year around the sun. December and this excitement also brings a lot of pressure and expectations. A lot of which we put on ourselves. Somehow we’ve got to learn how to manage and prioritise the expectations. Learn to say NO. A quote that really resonates with me is “everytime you say yes to something, you’re saying no to something else” - I’ve been saying yes a bit too much lately, which has meant saying no to myself. No to time to do the things I love and make me happy. No to sleep. No to quality time with the people I love. No to filling my cup up. So a reminder to me and to you - let’s say YES to us! And learn to be okay saying no. At the end of the day this season isn’t about being perfect. Events, food, presents, us as people - it doesn’t have to be perfect. Find gratitude in the chaos, and bring it back to what’s most important - the people we love and our health. C xo

Have you all seen the Peloton Ad controversy?? Recently I was telling some ladies that my husband got me the peloton for Christmas so they filled me in on their take of the ad. . . A husband bought a peloton for his “already skinny” wife, and she documents her journey in a year with her peloton. . . People say that it is degrading, and sexist. The husband bought the bike for her to lose weight, supposedly they are saying he thinks she is overweight. I watched the ad, and not once did I ever get that impression. People said she looks scared, that in the early morning she doesn’t want to get out of bed to workout, but she does. . . Has anyone ever thought that maybe in her situation being a mom of young kids it’s hard to get to the gym, maybe her self esteem is low and is scared to go to the gym, maybe being a working mom, she doesn’t want to take away more time from her kids, maybe she looks scared because it’s something new, her face looks tired in the morning because really who wakes up and wants to jump into a workout. . . My husband bought me a peloton for Christmas and I was ecstatic! 🙌🏼 Not once did I think, “oh he thinks I’m fat”. I had a seizure and am not able to drive myself to the gym, sometimes at home workouts get boring! I wanted to take my fitness to the next level. Every instructor I’ve taken a class with have been so motivating, and push me to do things I would normally give up on. There is a whole community of people giving you “high fives” 🤚🏼 while you are riding. Having a peloton doesn’t mean that you are fat, it means that you want to get healthy. 💪🏼 it is sad to me that anyone would think differently. . . . Healthy lifestyles let you get up & go with no regrets Exactly a year ago I was getting ready to go on vacation and spend Christmas with my family in Colombia! There was absolutely no macro tracking, definitely did not get enough protein in, was definitely consuming lots of liquid calories...BUT I got quality memories. Memories that will last forever. 10 years from now, i won’t be thinking about what I weighed in on December of 2019. I’ll be thinking about the awesome memories I made with my family. I’m addicted to this lifestyle and because I have knowledge around nutrition...I make the best possible choices whenever I’m on a trip, I hit the gym when I can (i make it a priority to stay active and get my body moving), I ultimately just made it work with no regrets or guilt. The day I got back from this trip I was ITCHING to get back to the gym. Not to punish my body for getting “off track”, but because I wanted to. And because I know how great I feel when I am “on track.” I WANT to workout. I WANT to fuel my body with whole foods. I WANT to feel sexy in my own skin. I WANT to be confident. Have you been told you need to “cut out” alcohol? Cheese? Sweets? Do you dread going to parties or dinners because you know you won’t be able to resist the delicious bread on the table? Are your restricting these so called “bad” items and then go on a binge when they’re available? You have decided to cut out gluten, dairy, sugar, alcohol, carbs, coffee, and while you’re at it, work out 7 hours a week outside of your 50 hour work week. 𝐒𝐎 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐃𝐎 𝐈𝐓 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐀 𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐓𝐇. 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐋𝐎𝐒𝐄 𝟑𝟎 𝐏𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐒. 𝐍𝐈𝐂𝐄!!! But wait… now what? You can’t sustain this lifestyle. You gain it back. The cycle continues. 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓𝐒 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐈𝐒𝐍’𝐓 𝐈𝐓??? So much time is spent stressing about not eating the bread, not drinking the 2nd glass of wine, or feeling so guilty after indulging in anything thats not perfectly healthy!!! What people 𝐃𝐎𝐍’𝐓 realize yet is… 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐂𝐀𝐍 𝐇𝐀𝐕𝐄 𝐈𝐓 𝐀𝐋𝐋. But it’s allllll about balance. 𝐈 𝐋𝐎𝐕𝐄 𝗪𝐈𝐍𝐄. And chocolate. Sees candy to be specific. 𝐈 𝐊𝐍𝐎𝗪 𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐘 that I have zero desire to live my life without these things. That’s not sustainable for me, and why would I want to sacrifice the happiness that a lovely scotch-mallow brings me? Am I tired? Of course 😂 Dude - taking care of a toddler and a baby, school drop offs and pick ups for my third, working side hustles, fixing up a home - is no joke! But I manage, and here are some energy tips that I (try to) use—⠀ ⠀ ☀️GET SUN. Even if it’s cold outside, SEE THE LIGHT from inside of the house. This continues to tell my body (and my cortisol) that it’s daytime, and I should be awake.⠀ ⠀ 🥥EAT/GET MAGNESIUM, IRON & OMEGA-3. @florahealthy Floradix Iron+Herbs has Iron and B Vitamins to help with an energy boost (#ad).
