So this month we want to bring awareness to food waste, the sheer volume of food that is wasted as well as what we can do to reduce our foodwaste. We shared a post a few weeks back on how @dibblefoods does their part in turning foodwaste into usable ingredients for their products (post shared in our stories) and we want to show you more on how we can tackle this problem. Don't forget to give @essentially_crystal and @dibblefoods a follow! Repost @essentially_crystal • • • So last week i shared about a pesto i made using an ingredient that would otherwise be foodwaste, I recently shared on @wastefreeplanet about the difference between foodloss and foodwaste (post shared in my stories). Its important to me to make sure i keep my food waste low and think of ways to use as much of the 'scraps' as i can. Honestly this plant based low waste pesto is delicious we couldn't stop eating it while making it😂 The main ingredients, carrot greens. yup those greens on your carrots, use them! I don't have measurements because i'm a lazy cook but here's the ingredients; 🥕 Carrot greens 🥕 Fresh basil 🥕 Garlic 🥕 Nutritional yeast 🥕 Lemon juice 🥕 Olive oil 🥕 Cashews 🥕 Salt & Pepper We paired this with some delicious pasta, cherry tomatoes, onion and garlic (because you can never have too much garlic). this made us 4 meals and also would have been a delicious chunky dip. Ps. Yes my plants are dead in the back 🥀 it's been a really hot spring here in Brisbane and we're going into draught season so unfortunately the entire complex plants are mostly dead. ☹️

This may be a part of your daily commute in Boston, but Lauren & Josh flew all the way from Nevada for their destination wedding in Boston and NEEDED a pic with their favorite Copley T sign. They tied the knot at Old South Church right next door, and partied all night long on the waterfront at the Boston Marriott Long Wharf! #goinggreen⠀ ⠀ Venue: @marriottlongwharf - Photography: @lenamirisola - Second shooter: @meilinbarral - Florist: @wholefoods - Cake: @konditormeister- Hair + makeup: @hairandmakeupbynatalielaface - Tux + groomswear: @menswearhouse - Bridesmaids wear: @azazie - Rings: @devonjewelry + @happylaulea
This chair just makes me happy. When I stayed with friends in France this summer, I admired her several lovely traditional chairs covered in bright, modern fabric. Her sister had recovered them for her. . When you invest in quality pieces, you can usually repair or update them for decades, maybe even hundreds of years. . Also, when you have things that are this pretty, you don’t want to cover them in piles of clutter. . . I’m not sure if this is an organizing, decorating, going green, or missing France post. I guess all of the above. . #organize#organisatrice#decor#frenchdecor#frenchvintage#goinggreen#reupholstery#missingparis#missingfrance#frenchstyle#frenchstyledecor

WHAT ABOUT THE CLOTHES IN TERRIBLE CONDITION? WHERE CAN THEY GO? What if your clothes is stained, ripped, have holes etc, and are they are just too used up to donate to people/sell ? Well you’d be happy to know you still have a few options !! Recycle Textiles! What is Recycle textile?? It is when companies take clothes in any condition and recycles them into new garments! Some might even give you a discount for giving away your old clothes. Some companies have different requirements so make sure you do your research so your clothes doesn’t end up getting tossed anyways. Some stores do not take mixed fabrics, so just check first! Stores that recycle textiles are: ♻️ H&M be a fashion recycler accept all clothes from any brand and in any condition. They claim 0% go into landfills! ♻️ The North Face clothes the loop accepts clothes from any brand and in any condition. ♻️Patagonia Worn Wear accepts used Patagonia brand clothing and resells it on their website at a discounted price. ♻️ Goodwill accepts all textile donations, in any condition. Do you know of other places near you that has a recycle textile program?
To me, being a conscious consumer means to be aware of the impact the items you purchase and use have on people, the environment, and on your own health. Every single thing that you buy, consume, use, and dispose of has social and environmental consequences. • My goal is to always seek out the option that is kindest to all, from extraction, through its supply chain, all the way to its end of life. I’m not going to be perfect but at least if I choose something that isn’t the kindest, I want to at least be “conscious” and aware of what the impacts of that item are so that I know what changes to make to better align my consumption with my values. • This is very important because as consumers, we drive demand in the marketplace. Our purchases speak to industries. If we, as consumers, stop buying products that are unethical and harmful, the companies that make them will have to stop, or change their practices. We vote with our dollars and I want my money and my vote to go towards companies, practices, and products that I believe in and I think that others feel the same way! • My bachelor’s degree is in Consumer Science and I remember in at least one of my classes watching a video called The Story of Stuff by Annie Leonard. (there’s also a book) So if you’d like to know a little more about the system of consumption, you can type that into YouTube, or click the link in my bio. It’s a great resource and place to start. It was made a little over 10 years ago but, it’s still extremely relevant, maybe even more so than before. • Thank you for coming with me on this journey, and hopefully together we can help each other live a more conscious lifestyle and inspire positive change!😄🌎
This Sunday, students helped build a compost system next to our chicken coop! The system will help reduce food waste and create nourishing compost for a future garden 💚♻️🌱 #sustainability#goinggreen#cburysaints
