We are celebrating the regional chips from across India and there are so many of them around! Here’s a pick of some of our faves! Banana Chips: We are sure you have heard of this one! Crispy and warm it’s almost impossible to stop munching on once you begin. It tastes like God’s own country at its crunchy best! A distinct crunch and an unmissable aroma of coconut oil is what you can expect in every chip! Available across South India, though best in Kerala! Jackfruit Chips: Now this is one we aren’t sure many have heard of. It is as confusing as the core ingredient - Jackfruit. Salty and sweet, crispy and gooey all at the same time, it truly is a confounding explosion of taste! Available through out the year, it is one you should get a hold of if ever in Kerala. Hot Chips: A Bengaluru staple, hot chips aren’t one kind of chips. There are murukkus (crisp salty south-Indian favourites), ribbon pakoras (spicy gram flour strips that taste like a festival in your mouth), mixtures and so much more. If you are in Bengaluru, don’t forget to hit up a store and stock up. Tapioca Chips: Now this one is a bit of a zinger. Made with the Tapioca Root, it has a peculiar taste but perfect when paired with that hot cup of filter coffee. Seasoned as per your taste, they are typically super spicy and have a very creamy sweetness to them. Which regional chips are your favourite? Let us know in the comments section below.

The vacation finally came to an end yesterday and we both resumed work and routine life. The new challenge for me in all of this was ensuring that I pack a meal for S that he and I will both like and which can easily be prepared in our slightly basic kitchen, at the moment. I’ve funnily started waking up earlier than usual automatically and while he still sleeps I make myself a cuppa and catch up on some reading. I finally made a date with #pangat, my friend @skoranne’s latest book on Maharashtrian cuisine. It was only fitting that I bring a little of Maharashtra to my new kitchen in Delhi 😊 . . Made the fiery and oh so delicious thecha and batatyachi samarambhi bhaaji (potatoes spiced with ginger and chilli) with some hot rotis and dahi jeera. Packed the same for S. Now I must tell you that S has almost next to none tolerance for spicy food, but he called up from office to tell me how much he loved the theccha! Now that’s a win. 💕 . . What warms my heart even more is that Saee won an award last night at @cntravellerindia for this amazing amazing book. To say that she deserves this and much more would be an understatement. Congratulations my friend, and here’s welcoming Pangat into our kitchens 😊
It was my first day back at work today. Not going to lie, it was tough. Im not used to this “it’s inappropriate to have a drink at 10am” business that supposedly comes with my regular life. Apparently you have to wear clothes and makeup to a corporate workplace - something I haven’t done in WEEKS (well maybe makeup isn’t totally necessary, but I would never want to do that to my colleagues). I know, I know - I’ve just had three blissful weeks off, so I can’t complain. And I won’t (I mean, I’ll try not to). But I still needed something to get me through this intense shock to the system, so I wistfully scrolled through the huge backlog of food pics from my holiday to remember the good times. Pictured is an Oreo Churro. Yep, an OREO CHURRO. Very tasty, and you know what makes it tastier? When you’re on vacation and the biggest stress you have to deal with is what you should eat or drink.😩 Pining over these pics didn’t turn my mundane vegemite toast into a warm Oreo Churro unfortunately, but it did soothe the pain of coming back to reality. 👍🏼 #ihatewhenpeoplesaythisbuttakemeback #churros#dessert
