Traveling can be so funny sometimes. ⠀⠀ You never know what sort of things are going to move you. Trigger you. Motivate you to be a better person. ⠀⠀ Last night... was a little triggering and I’m curious about yalls thoughts. ⠀⠀ We had arrived to Bagan late at night and long story short, there was a local price and a foreign price. One of the girls who was going to the same hostel as us said “it’s racist” to not treat us as locals and to have us pay the same. ⠀⠀ It was 3am and I immediately needed to step back. ⠀⠀ I’m more than accustom to something others and I have called the “foreign tax”. A tax foreigners pay because... they aren’t local. No matter how long you live abroad or how long you travel, you pay the tax in some form or another. ⠀⠀ When you travel in a developing country, there will CERTAINLY be different prices for you vs your average local. It’s to be expected. At least, that’s what I thought ⠀⠀ So fam, I’m curious. What are your thoughts? Should foreigners pay the same price? Is it “racist”? (FYI the correct answer is no). If this has happened and you were frustrated, why? I’m genuinely curious. ⠀⠀
E.A.T. Temecula, California 2019, 4/5 • Extraordinary Artisan Table, E.A.T. in Old Town, Temecula is a place to eat a BUNCH of food! Organic farm to table food which is super cool and healthy! They also have a little coffee shop in the front which has a little corner with three bar seats and I sat there for about two hours doing a book report! Unfortunately for me, they ran out of chai this morning.. I was obviously bummed.. but it gave me opportunity to ask question like I love doing. They specially crafted me a honey lavender latte with almond milk and WOW- The lavender was actually like lavender-y! Every time I picked up the cup you can smell the lavender. It was awesome! I also ordered a paleo gluten free chocolate chip cookie which was great too! Soft and sweetened with maple! Not too much seating just for coffee, but I got real lucky! Eating actual meals here is always good but sometimes takes a while to eat, but they make all the food after you order!
