Westminster is debating the Queen’s Speech, subject matter is Policing. It’s great to hear support for what our amazing officers do everyday up & down the country, also acknowledgement of how dangerous the job is. I hope this means we will see a commitment to more police dogs soon! #finnslaw#finnslawpart2#dontditchthedogs
THIS BOOK! I’ve been lacking in motivation to read recently but this book is fantastic. It’s given me chills and a lump in my throat. I have a special place in my heart for shepherds and I have since I was small. Something about a working dog catches my attention like nothing else, especially those that are police or military dogs. I find myself in absolute awe of them and their handlers. Such bravery and intelligence exercised with such boldness! I cannot imagine the pain and fear both Finn and his handler Dave must have felt. The anger alone would be too much to bare. Having Axl fight for his life as a small pup was hard enough, every phone call your heart sinks, scared that it may be bad news. This dog put his life on the line, quite literally, that was part of his job or so he certainly felt. The dedication of his handler/dad is a credit to their relationship and left me holding my boy tight. Easily the best book next to Fitzpatricks I have read in a long time! 100% a great buy! Thank you for your service @k9finn #finnslaw#policedog#policedogs#dogsofinstagram#finn#germanshepherd#books#bookstagram
Dad is just in from work. He said he’d had an interesting night shift where he and HD were threatened with a bottle and a knife. But he and HD won the day. HD - 1 Suspect - 0 #morepolicedogsneededtokeepthestreetsandofficerssafe One arrested! HD then went on to another incident where she found the stolen goods and lots of vital evidence. One to be arrested once forensics do their thing👍🏼🐾 Pearl did some training, but sat this one out. Pictures are of dads PDs Hero - Diesel (HD) and Pearl. He’s off to bed now. Night. 🐾🐾 #finnslaw#finnslawpart2#finnslawscotland#dontditchthedogs
So who remembers Guide Dog Finn who we all raised money to name Finn and sponsor so that the name could continue on the street in another service dog? We have just found out that he has passed all of his qualifications and has been matched with his new handler and they have passed as a team 🐾 I can’t tell you how proud we are of him 🐾 Massive thanks to Roye Brown and Julia for all of their hard work and commitment to Guide dogs 🐾 And @guidedogsuk @guidedogsredbridge 🐾 Here’s to GD Finn and his future 🍾🐾 Picture is GD Finn when he was a puppy and him meeting #fabulousfinn before he went off for his last bit of training 👍🐾💙 Just like with #finnslaw this shows what positivity can be achieved when we all work together. ❤️🐾 #finnslaw#finnslawpart2#guidedog#thankyoueveryone
My very dearest regards to you all. It appears that you have done it❤️🐾 #finnslawpart2 may well appear in the upcoming Queen’s Speech. That’s not because of me or Finn. That’s because of you! You are all incredible people who should be very proud! researchbriefings.parliament.uk/ResearchBriefi… I could cry right now. This will give #finnslaw, the law that Finn and I founded & fought so very hard for, teeth. The teeth it rightfully deserves. Well done to each and everyone of you. This isn’t & has never been about me. This is about our amazing animals. ❤️🐾 #finnslaw#finnslawpart2#finnslawscotland#finnslawni#finnslawiom#finnslawglobal
When #fabulousfinn met @k9hurricane @teampdsa #legends#finnslaw Finn and Hurricane met at the PDSA’s Bow hospital. The work the PDSA do up and down the country at their centres is amazing. Also the work the do to recognise dogs like Finn and Hurricane is second to none.
PC Dave Wardell & PD Finn In 2016 Finn saved Dave’s life. When on duty finding an armed robber who attempted to stab Dave with a 10 inch Knife, instead Finn was stabbed in the side and was left fighting for his life. Despite being seriously injured Finn didn’t let go of the suspect, he had another wound to his head and Dave also had his hand cut open. Thankfully Finn made a full recovery with the best veterinary care and could return to work as a Police dog with his handler Dave before enjoying his well deserved retirement a few years later. However the attacker could only be charged with Criminal damage to Finn, so they have worked hard to have #finnslaw passed which will protect service animals such as Police dogs and Horses with more suitable sentences. You may also recognise them as being finalists on Britains Got Talent 2019, sharing their amazing story and the magic dogs bring to our lives.
Three years to the day since @k9finn was stabbed in the line of duty protecting his handler, Dave. Proud to have played a very small part in helping to get the law changed 🐶❤️🐾 - anyone who knows me looks at me now and immediately thinks about Finn 😀. Posted @withrepost • @k9finn This time 3 years ago my life was turned upside down & my best friends life hung in the balance. I used to think it was because of a decision I made. I now know that it was because of a bad decision a young man made. #policedogsarevital#moredogsneeded Looking back over the last 3 years, it’s been tough. At times, very tough. But I’m so proud of what we’ve achieved, how far we’ve come & what we’ve learned. I’m also proud of the amazing friends we’ve made along the way #finnslaw#finnslawpart2#finnslawscotland#dontditchthedogs
🐕 Collar numbers for our canines... Three years to the day that PD Finn was violently attacked in the line of duty, in recognition of the vital roles that dogs play within the force, Gwent Police will now be issuing collar numbers to all currently serving and future police dogs. • • Traditionally, a collar number is issued to an officer at the start of their career, it is then their unique identification number to the police force they are serving. The collar number is clearly displayed on their epaulettes – worn on the shoulders of their uniform 👮♂️👮♀️ The decision to introduce collar numbers was taken following the passing of Finn’s Law in June 2019, an initiative which saw PC Wardell of Hertforshire Police campaign tirelessly for the better protection of service dogs. • • This followed the stabbing of PD Finn whilst protecting PC Wardell during an arrest attempt. Finn sustained life-threatening injuries during the attack, but bravely held on until further assistance arrived. Although the offender was charged with Actual Bodily Harm on PC Wardell who was injured to his hand during the attack, he only received a charge of criminal damage for the severe injuries inflicted on Finn. The new Bill now makes it harder for those who harm service animals in the line of duty to claim self-defence, whilst also increasing maximum sentences 🙌 All 2️⃣0️⃣ dogs will now be provided with a PD collar number, which will be displayed on collars and harnesses. • • • #policedogsofinstagram#ukpolicedogs#ukpolice#dogsofinstagram#finnslaw#gwent

This is a #feelgoodfriday post. Enjoy👍🏼🐾 #finnslaw#finnslawpart2#finnslawscotland#finnslawiom#finnslawni A kindhearted pilot took evasive action after noticing a baby hedgehog on the runway as they prepared for take-off. Passengers were told about the reason for the delay over the tannoy as they waited two minutes for the hoglet to cross. The Loganair flight was taxiing to the runway in Stornoway, Lewis, when the prickly creature made an appearance.
