I’m not at all original when I say I love the Starbucks special Holiday drinks! I always order them with almond milk and no whipped cream but they still are definitely a treat and not something to have every day. I wanted to try to make a healthier version at home, so I came up with this Gingerbread latte! I’m going to post a peppermint mocha version too! 😍 Which is your favorite drink? Gingerbread latte 1/3 cup homemade cashew/almond milk using my @elliesbest bag 1 cup coffee 1/8 tsp allspice 1/8 tsp nutmeg 1/4 tsp ginger 1/4 tsp cinnamon 1 tsp molasses (molasses is actually a great source of iron, calcium, and B6!) 1 1/2 TBS maple syrup 1 scoop collagen powder (optional) Blend everything together in a blender and drink up! So great to hobble back to Doylestown to see my family run for the Boys and Girls Club this weekend and to see some old friends and their new babies, to gasp at the movies beside my parents and still feel tiny and young in my old bedroom. My sister told me last night I talked in my sleep, that I said "forty" over and over when I thought I had a restless night not wanting to miss the morning train. Funny how your family can see things in you you couldn't possibly, things you might be asleep to. Lovely and scary how you can see your the past and future in their faces. This photo is from when I was more mobile a handful of years ago, with Erika wrapped in our neighbor Eleanor's fur coat. This weekend Eleanor gave me a more practical pullover fleece coat, delivered alongside a bag of Honeycrisp apples. She told me about being courted in New York City as a young woman by five different men, all who took her to the opera and ballet and on carriage rides around Central Park. She picked the right one, she said. His painted portrait smiled down at us from the adjacent wall, a reminder of his warm demeanor when he was alive. Now in her 80s, she's back to being courted, and still going to the opera. Time passes slowly for me now, waiting for my feet back as I watch my family run, I'm clanging bells and my hands are covered in Sharpie from trying to write out encouraging signs on the car ride to the starting line. Don’t Feel like you Need a Quick Fix to Restart your #keto Journey. Let me explain Why 👇🏻⠀ ⠀ So many people thing they need to do a crazy jumpstart to do keto or feel like they have to go from 0-100 real quick 🎶. When you are sticking to it really well then fall off, SO MANY people thing they need to do a quick fix to get them back to it. ⠀ ⠀ Don’t feel like you need to do anything crazy to restart. No need to do a prolonged fast or anything super challenging. The best way to get back into it is this. ⠀ ⠀ Put your meals into MyFitnessPal or CarbManager the night before and log everything you are going to eat. Then simply the next day eat ONLY the foods you logged. Then that’s it, repeat at night and log the foods again for the next day.
