enjoy a zoomed-out outtake for this lovely tuesday! was too lazy to write an actual caption, but i wanted to ask a question: what’s something you want to overcome? feel free to tell me about it, but no pressure to share! mine is definitely fear, specifically fear of failure. it has stopped me from doing so much, and i’m still in the process of overcoming it. creating this skinsta was actually a big step for me; i was scared this would be a flop, but it’s been quite the opposite far- i’ve made so many new friends and you all have taught me so much, whether it be about skincare, beauty, photography, or even just life. i’m super grateful for this experience and all of you :)
Coffee and pumpkins make for the perfect pair this time of year, especially when it’s a nice day to sit outside! That’s exactly what we did on this afternoon at @unclebeanscoffee ☺️☕️ It’s the perfect place to relax in the shade and enjoy the fresh air! #coffeeshoptuesday
As per my poll today I thought I’d do a longer than usual caption once a week with more meaning. I just wanted to take a quick second to remind everyone to smile and challenge you to think of one positive thing that happens to you every single day. Recently I’ve been surrounded by a lot of negativity and it really took me a while to remember that there are so many good things in life that I shouldn’t be focusing on the bad. There will always be negative people, bad days, things not working out expected, and things that you can’t control. But what you CAN control is your mindset and how you look at things. It’s tough but I choose to smile everyday and see the light in everyone. Find the joy in the little things because you have so much to offer the world!! “Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together” - Marilyn Monroe If you don’t think anyone believes in you, just know that I do 😌🌸💓
What’s your favorite thing about fall?⠀ ⠀ Mine was stepping on the big crunchy leaves, but sadly most of Portland’s leaves are soggy from the rain. ⠀ ⠀ My new fav thing is to have a fall scented candle lit while the rain and leaves fall watching a good scary movie... I mean it’s Spooky Szn for a reason!
Function of Beauty 2 week update! @functionofbeauty kindly gifted me their fully customizable shampoo and conditioner duo which I’ve been using every other day/every 2 days for the past couple of weeks! Here’s my experience so far 💓✨ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 💓 first, I filled out a hair profile and outlined my goals. I specified that my hair is oily, fine, and wavy (I got a body wave perm in October of 2018 that is still somewhat in tact). My oily hair is also prone to flaking! So in my goals, I wanted to soothe my scalp (keep the flakes away), nourish my roots (keep the oil at bay), define my curls (body wave perm!), strengthen (prevent damage), and volumize (my hair is very fine). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 💓 you can also customize the color and fragrance! I picked pink for the shampoo and deep blue for the conditioner, along with the fragrance “all (you)calyptus” — it makes my shower smell like a spa 🥰🌿 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 💓So far, I’m happy with the progress that has been made on my hair goals! I haven’t had any problem with flaking— my scalp feels amazing, not itchy at all! This was my biggest test because I have almost always used *coughcough head and shoulders *couch since I’m SO dandruff prone. But so far, no build up or flakes in sight—yay! Curl definition is also looking great. My waves are much more pronounced and my hair holds a curl for longer than it used to! I can’t really speak to the strengthening aspect of it yet, though I have noticed more volume (very slight because my hair is so long that it weighs itself down naturally) lol ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ . ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 💓 I will say though, if you have very long hair like me, it is worth investing in a hair mask (FoB has a customizable one!) because you will run through the conditioner much faster than the shampoo. Right now, I’m using two pumps of shampoo and about 4 pumps of conditioner each time I wash my hair!
When I first saw this look by @contrashelby , I immediately thought of Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream and how all the magical and fantastical things happen in the forest. It’s actually a big theme in literature (think the Forbidden Forest in Harry Potter). ⠀ 💭 What does it provoke for you?⠀ (Side note - I was an English Major during undergrad 🙃)⠀ Inspired by @contrashelby ⠀ ————————————⠀ • @sephora - Wink-it Felt Color Liquid Liner in Blue Moon, Bone White, Midnight Navy⠀ • @nyxcosmetics - Vivid Brights Liquid Liner in Vivid Escape and Vivid Envy⠀ • @hourglasscosmetics - Girl Lip Stylo In Peacemaker⠀ • @glossier - Lip Gloss⠀ • @kissproducts - Little Black Dress lashes
TRAINING FOR EVERYDAY LIFE VS TRAINING WITH PURPOSE. - That purpose being to train for a WBFF competition and in doing so put on some size. These photos are almost 6 months apart which was when I started my journey with @melissa_leman to get me stage ready. - I’ve exercised most days my whole life whether that’s been weights, spin, yoga, running or just a walk - always appreciating the fact that I am lucky enough to be able to move my body. For the majority of the last 6 months I’ve been doing up to 7 weights sessions a week with no cardio other than walking. - I’ve always eaten super healthy and cared about the food I’ve put in my body apart from the odd treat, well probably a daily treat to be honest. During this prep I’ve cut out sugar, alcohol and processed food. I’ve upped my carbs and eaten between 2500-3000 calories daily. - During the last 6 months I’ve pushed myself physically and mentally and have learnt so much about myself during the process! - Set your goals, decide on what type of life you want then say no to everything else that doesn’t fit. 👊🏻 - @team_leman @wbffnewzealand @paul_dillett @wbff_aust @pauline_wbffaustralia @ari_empire
This day last year I was in Dubai in hospital recovering from surgery. . I was in an accident a few hours after this photo was taken and my hand was cut very badly. . I was wheeled into theatre to have what felt like hundreds of stitches ✖️ and I am so grateful that after one whole year my hand has healed so well. (I actually thought I was losing a finger it was cut so bad 🙈) . For the first few months I could barley move the two damaged fingers but now I have movement. I was told it would take a full year for my hand to fully function properly. . Unfortunately I still don’t have any feeling in my little finger and I may never get the feeling back due to my nerve being fully severed. . My mummy always says your health is your wealth! I never realised the importance of this saying but I know it could have been a lot worse. . Thankfully with the help of friends, work colleagues and hospital staff I was able to recover while living in Dubai. I don’t miss having to tie a plastic bag around my hand when getting a shower 😂 or having to hide my arm behind my back for photos 🙈😂 . Dubai will always have a place in my heart and I don’t think I am truly finished with it even though it has quite literally scarred me for life! . Until next time ... 🇦🇪❤️ . . . . #feelingnostalgic#thistimelastyear#whatadifferenceayearmakes#flashback#throwback#dubai#mydubai#dxb#accident#scarredforlife#discoverunder2k#teacherstyle#teachabroad#niblogger#lifechangingmoments#irishabroad#travel#travelblogger
name change advice: changing your name isn’t a pain in the ass as long as you do it the right way, which we (unknowingly) did not do 😅 first, you need to go to your local social security office with your marriage certificate and your current driver’s license/state id. then you have to wait until the next day before you can go to the bmv for your new driver’s license because they want the new name to process overnight with the social security people. so don’t go to the bmv right after the ss office because they will send you home with zero regret in their eyes. zero. regret. 🙄😂
Happy Tuesday! ☕️ Can anybody else not believe we are just about nearing the end of October & the holidays are literally right around the corner??? The mall is already getting their holiday decorations up & going! Where did the time go? ❄️ . . . Faux leather jackets are so in right now! I swear I passed about 30 people the other day rocking their leather. If you’re missing out on the trend, I tagged a couple faux leather moto jackets to check out! I love the quilted texture of the sleeves/shoulders on mine from Macy’s (brand: Bar III) // my sugar skull distressed graphic tee is from @vicidolls . . . Don’t forget your accessories! New go-to bag is amazon, less than $40 + ships prime! // my shoes are Goodnight Macaroon & they’re the perfect Gucci dupe + the white shoe is a great way to break up/brighten a dark outfit and make it more girly ☀️ . . . Happy Tuesday! I've been using the @purito_official Centella Green Level Unscented Sun SPF 50+ PA++++ for a few days and I've been enjoying it so far! This chemical spf is lightweight, leaves no white cast, doesn't make my skin feel greasy throughout the day (i have a dry skin type), and is easy to reapply later in the day. Texture-wise, it's slightly thicker and not as "airy" as the Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence that I really enjoy, but still spreads easily. In the morning when I first put this SPF on, my face looks wet (when i first tried this i was worried i was going to look like that the rest of the day haha) but it dries after a few minutes. On my face, the finish leaves me looking a bit dewy (not as much as Krave's Beet Shield), but i do layer serums and a moisturizer underneath so that might have something to do with the finish. My bf also uses this SPF but he doesn't layer anything underneath and his face looks... normal? Def not dewy lol. This product is free of: parabens, mineral oil, ethanol, essential oils, artificial fragrances, peg, and oxybenzone. It is also vegan and does not test on animals. This spf claims that they: -are suitable for sensitive skin -provide "more effective protection from external stimuli and ultraviolet rays by strengthening the skin barrier with the upgraded, highly-concentrated super centella component." Overall, I'd definitely repurchase this because it's affordable and so far i trust the brand's quality. Have you tried this SPF yet? What'd ya think?

Tomorrow is the big day... Aryana’s pumpkin decorating competition at school! She is so excited, and I have to honestly say how proud I am of her and all the hard work she’s put into it. She starting looking at some pumpkins online last week, and decided she wanted to do a Cinderella themed one! She was well warned that she had to do everything herself (except obviously for the actual carving) Aryana loves all things art, I guess since she’s spent so long in hospital and isn’t as physically able that she can really express herself this way. I don’t care if she wins a prize or not, I’m just so delighted that she’s proud of herself. 🎃👧🏻❤️
The force is strong with this one! . . Officially have our tickets booked for the midnight screening of Rise of Skywalker, and we are so freaking excited! Anyone else love the atmosphere of the midnight screening?
💗 F I S H I E S 💗 Look at this beautiful fish! He is a type of catfish, and albino hoplo and is the biggest in the tank ❤️ He’s overtaken my beautiful bristlenose plec with his size! And he is so pretty 😍 this photo was taken on 16th August and he is so much bigger than this now! I just love him 😍
If you’ve never tried a rolling peel, I highly recommend this one from @mariobadescu I love using a rolling peel because you can actually see the exfoliation happening, unlike a chemical or even physical exfoliation where you may not see immediate results. A rolling peel is applied in a thin layer and rubbed in until it starts to pill- this is dead & dry skin rolling away to reveal instant results. After rinsing, your skin is immediately smoother & brighter! This formula has lactic acid, one of the most gentle AHA’s out there, as well as peach extract to improve skin tone & texture. I use a rolling peel maybe once every few weeks, since I use direct acids on a daily basis. Other brands (like @saturday_skin )have similar products, so you’re sure to find one that you like!
