Mycelium teaches us of the eternal connection of the world. It teaches us of a realm beneath the soil, without which we would not thrive above. Their home is darkness and their work is to transform the dead into new life. They are messengers of connection, sent to heal and awaken. I dream of the mycelium underworld, the webbed roots that bind all things. The rivers and veins beneath our feet that feed the world. The pathways of our brains, the roots of the Aspens, the mycelium are all the same threads that weave the sacred tapestry of life. The grandmothers still hum while they weave. They have left behind clues to guide us back, that we may pick up the broken threads and continue weaving. The Mushroom is one messenger they have sent. The mushroom gives of its body for the collective healing and awakening of the world. May we seek out conscious connections and keep returning to our sacred origins. 🍄🌲🙏 #mushrooms#fungi#mycology#mycelium#medicine#underworld#connection#awakening#nature#motherearth#earthblessings#earthmedicine#roots#decomposers#compost#soul#healing#shadowwork#magicofmushrooms#sacredorigins

Food2Soil Presents the 2019 Squash Smash!🧡 🎃San Carlos Community Gardens (Nov 3) 🎃 Wild Willow Farms (Nov 9) 🎃 Ocean View Growing Grounds (Dec 7) Did you know, the U.S. Department of Energy, most of the 1.3 billion pounds of pumpkins produced in the U.S. end up in the landfill. These discarded pumpkins add to the more than 254 million tons of municipal solid waste produced in the U.S. every year. Pumpkins are packed with essential vitamins and minerals. Most people think that once we carve and light them, their value is gone; however, pumpkins can be turned into nutrient dense food for our plants and gardens if we compost them. As the season of celebration advances, we encourage you to collect as many post-Holiday pumpkins, squashes, and gourds possible. Recover them from friends, family, neighbors, and businesses who will trash those gorgeous gourds! Bring them to: 🎃San Carlos Community Gardens (Nov 3) 🎃 Wild Willow Farms (Nov 9) 🎃 Ocean View Growing Grounds (Dec 7) annual Squash Smash and we will compost them for you! Prizes will be awarded for salvaging your neighborhood gourds from going into the landfill! Bring your rescued gourds. We'll provide garden tools and bats for the smash; nonetheless, if you have a favorite smashing tool please bring it along. No fee or registration required if you are smashing for fun. Just show up at the event. You will be asked to sign a waiver before you enter the smash area. Donations are appreciated. If you'd like to compete for the Grand Prize in the Squash Smash Contest please register your team by visiting our registration page: [https://www.inikasmallearth.org/squashsmash2019.html] We will keep track of the weight of your smashes after each event. Winners will be announced after the last smash on December 7th. Donations and registration fees will be used to benefit Food2Soil and our partner compost hubs. #squashsmash2019#squashsmash#pumpkinsmash#squashblossom#pumpkin#halloween
A couple of weekend ago, I went into the kitchen to get some water and stepped into a puddle on the floor. I traced the source back to my fridge, discovering that it had frosted up and water had pooled at the bottom and then overflowed. After mopping up the water, I took the opportunity to evaluate the contents of my fridge, which had been gathering dust since I had been eating out so much before beginning the weight management program. To no one’s surprise, pretty much everything was way past the best before date. With tomorrow being #compost day, I spent some time this afternoon cleaning out the fridge. Next weekend, I’ll tackle the freezer. #pastbestbeforedate#cleaninghouse#mindfulness
. 🍃Uds qué más disfrutan de su jardín? Que analogía con la vida encuentran? . #jardineria#jardinera#garden#gardening#nature#naturaleza#plantas#plants#tipsdejardineria#árboles#árbol#tree#compost#naturelovers#plantslovers#amantesdelanaturaleza
Do you even compost? #zerowaste⠀ ⠀ Huge shoutout and thank you to the New York City Department of Sanitation (@nycsanitation) for having us as their café supplier for their Staten Island Compost Facility Tour. ⠀ ⠀ If you don’t have one yet, make sure to request a brown bin to compost and make sure your food scraps get repurposed! ♻️🌱 ⠀ ⠀ PS: We compost all of our used coffee grounds and cups we serve your café in.... so you should too!
It's a good day to empty out a tray in the worm bin. The bottom tray was perfect compost. It's been a while since I've cleaned a tray out and we were running out of room for more kitchen scraps. Do you compost? With worms or in a pile? Love my worms, but also thinking of trying composting with bokashi. Have you tried it? - #gardening#compost#vermicompost#organic#wormcompost#wormbin
Any idea what percentage of household waste is made up by food waste? 40%!!! How crazy is that! Another 10 percent is made up of garden waste, which means that combined, half of Auckland's household landfill waste could actually be turned into something beneficial, rather than lying in landfill, emitting methane gas. ' Just to be clear, this organic waste DOES NOT COMPOST IN LANDFILL. Sealed landfills in the USA have been dug up to reveal 25 year old hot dogs and lettuce heads that still look pretty much good as new. This week we are talking about the SINGLE change that could HALVE YOUR WASTE overnight - composting! Shortly I'll be introducing you to this week's expert, who will be taking your through all the composting know-how that you need to get your compost bin cranking! He's got lots of trade secrets in worm farming and will be able to answer any questions you have about reducing organic waste... stay tuned to find out who it is! #compost#composting#compostlikeaboss#whywaste#lovefoodhatewaste#wormfarm#reducefoodwaste#ecotips#progressnotperfection#thegreatecojourney#reduceyourwaste#keepnzbeautiful
Mum seems to have her compost well under control now. I scored an el cheapo compost bin from the Tip shop. It’s an iconic recycling depot in Hobart. I’ll probably plant some pumpkin seeds in the foreground. Bound to be a few compost worms in there from my last visit. #permaculture#compost#recycle#kitchenscraps
We have a decent size compost area adjacent to our garden, but between meal prep and the outdoors we found a gap. I would put food scraps in bowls that were susceptible to fruit flies and an eyesore on the countertop to collect the food in before I could bring it out to the outdoor compost. I Recently purchased this little compost bin (with a carbon filter lid) to keep on our countertop to be more mindful of food waste during meal prep. So easy to just toss the tops and bottoms, cores and peels in the bin. I also have purchased a reusable K-Cup to cut down on my garbage footprint. I now grind my own coffee beans, and use in my reusable cup. The great thing is that I can dump the used coffee grounds into my little compost bin to add a vital boost to my compost. Do you compost? Do you have a counter top bin? Has it helped you compost more? . . . . . #compost#foodwaste#greenliving#composting#livinggreen#garden#compostbin#recyclers#sustainableliving
