I had a great time joining The Greg Pogue & Jon Burton Sport show this morning. Thanks for all the support, advice, and sacrifices made on the Nashville communities behalf over the years Uncle Vince! . . . . @Vincegillofficial #familyfoundationfund#nashvilletn#community#omnihotelnashville#okie#hope
If you know me you know I’m a sunshine girl. I literally picked my college based on the weather (just ask my parents 🤣). So moving to Seattle 3 years ago and leaving not only our friends and family but the sunshine, was really hard. And for the first 2 years I traveled at least once a month to escape. With the holidays here it always leads me to reflect on the past year. I realized for the first time in almost 3 years I finally have a sense of home in Seattle. I no longer plan a monthly escape or live by a countdown until my next trip. I don’t drag through the week to only live for the weekend. Instead I wake up everyday truly excited for what is to come. I now find a daily escape under those Red Lights. I’m constantly surrounded by people who inspire me and challenge me to be the best version of myself. So ya, even though I’m probably the palest I have ever been in my life, I’ve never been more sure that I’m exactly where I need to be. And it’s all thanks to the family I’ve found here @barrysbootcamp. So to my team in Seattle—thank you for helping me find myself here. And to this community—thank you for making this home. #barrysseattle#barrysbootcamp#community#family#fitfam
Funny that winter and pollution settle at the same time. More peculiar that it makes beautiful photos and even more dazzling sunsets. We notice it this time of year because we are forced too. The elements, the holidays, the closeness of confined space filled with kin. Plastic packaging overwhelms and annoys. Clothes never to be worn get thrown in boxes and shipped by untaxed convenience. Air pollution constricts our lungs as the cold holds tightly to it, reminding us of our choices we cannot escape. 4.6 million people died this year from air pollution according to the WHO. We cannot ignore the problems presented to us any longer. I know they demand some personal sacrifice but I beg you to rise to calling of the collective. Out of love of what the world is and has the potential to be I call to you. I tagged some inspiring resources. Feel free to look through. Poetry below: • Dear precipice, You are an edge sharp enough To cut all ties to the life I know I dare not mock you Even sometimes I keep my distance but an invitation calls from over the edge. I cannot help but to hear A soft song of cries Begging me to understand how they fell into the knowing This pleading Is wrapped in the love of potential. Not sorrow Not dread Love I dance closer to the edge And my heart flutters at the thought of falling But the thought flight flits where the heart flutters. Love and change is coming but only if I jump. I find that while you terrify me it is the only path in which the change demanded of me of my people actually occurs. Invite me gently and Invite the winds of hope an innovation too. Maybe then I will leap into the knowing. Oh I must add The beauty of your truth is unparalleled. ~Si

More photos of my recent pillar mural in Rosewood Neighborhood Park! This project was challenging due to the height, the curving surface, and a tight deadline, but it was also extremely rewarding!! • • The city is undertaking a huge trail improvement project in East Austin and this is the first public art project meant to beautify the shared park space around the trail. We got a lot of great input from the community before and during the process, and I really feel like we laid to groundwork for a new communal space for public art and events on the Eastside. For more info about “The Pillars Project” and the ideas behind my mural design, please read the caption for my first post about this project. • • Big thanks again to @raasininthesun and @pubcity who did an amazing job facilitating this tricky project!! And thanks to @austinparksfdn @austincityparks and @cityofaustinarts who also helped make this possible! • • #mural#muellerfoundation#peopleplusparks#eastlinkaustin#parks#trails#community#communitymural#eastaustin#civilrights#education#eastaustinstudiotour#austinmurals#austinart#atxart#willhatchcrosby#thankful#books#flowers#music#sports

Today I helped create a little magic! Joined my fellow @lululemon family in calling up friends in the community to spread some holiday cheer. And asked them to pay it forward by doing the same. A simple gesture to make others feel loved. Part of what they’re calling the “let the magic move you” campaign. . . It’s part of why I love #lululemon. It’s not always about gear, it’s about building community and spreading all the warm fuzzy feelings. I couldn’t call everyone. But if you’re reading this, know you are appreciated, loved, and I want to wish you a wonderful holiday! . . Feel free to share in the magic and call up someone TODAY to connect and spread some love their way. ❤️🙌🏻 . . 📸: @jaymesrogers . . . #lululemonambassador#lululemonmen#thesweatlife#letthemagicmoveyou#holidayseason#holiday#community#instagood#instarunners#runnersofinstagram#runningcommunity#lululemonchandler
Today in #meetthemakerweek we are talking about ‘community’. A perfect day to say how glad I am that this friendly, helpful, inspirational corner of the earth exists. I’m not blind to negative aspects of social media, but for myself it mostly makes me very happy. Isn’t amazing that I can be in awe of a painting someone is making that same day in Italy, that I get to see first snow in Canada, see the adventures of birds in a garden in New Zealand, witness the amazing creativity of this community. I’m very glad of Instagram friendships, both online and in the real world. So many people have helped me along the way when I needed some advice or just some friendly words. And seeing all the beauty everyone is creating each in his or her own way is beyond words. When I think of abstract networks like Instagram I picture a tree or trees in a forest, growing, connecting, giving birth to new trees. So thanks to all of you for making this happen every day!
The 100% best thing about the running community is the people in it. No more so than the shining star that is @claudi8s. She hates being thanked publicly. But I don’t care. She’s hands down the reason I run the way I do today. Over the past four-ish years of knowing her, she’s transformed my view of what women can achieve and how we should test our own boundaries and limitations. What we should care about. And what we shouldn’t give a monkeys about. In the last year she’s helped me take 2 minutes of my 5km time, nearly 10 mins off my marathon time and helped me achieve the two biggest ultras I’ve ever tackled. And she’s also made sure me: the person inside the runner is ok. She’s 1000000% incredible. And I couldn’t be more grateful to have her in my life. #followfriday#wearedaybreak#letshearitforthegirls
Bittersweet 💔 (EMO WARNING) We have a little over one more week at the Mesa store location & although it’s honestly an overdue smart “business decision” to cut our overhead, I think I’ve been pushing this way down and not wanting to think about it. Change is hard, even when it’s necessary and empowering positive changes. This will open doors for us to do things we’ve wanted to do but have struggled with having the resources to do. I have so many amazing memories from 13 years of Lulu brick & mortar. 4 locations, just 3 very special #teamlulu “employees” over the years: (@ghostmakertoys @blurbleone @manic_1mag3s), over 100 in-store events, 14 years at conventions worldwide & 15,000+ online orders to our global family all over the world. It’s been a roller coaster of a ride so far, and I am excited to see what’s possible in 2020 (after I sleep and cry for the last couple weeks of 2019!) The one thing that keeps me grounded throughout all the change is this amazing community. Besides having a passion for helping artists achieve their dreams, my work is truly about community. It’s the only thing that matters and although what that looks like next year will be evolving, I also keep reminding myself that busting out of four walls can only mean expansion of that commmunity, not subtraction. Thank you every single one of you. ❤️ Much love to @wretchrd @drippyeyez & @beantime28 for coming in yesterday and reminding me that although change is inevitable, community is where you make it 💕 Stop by Lulu if you can before our last day in Mesa, Dec 14th. #lulubelltoys#community#iheartmesa#hechoenmesa
