Check out my latest poster for last nights @thenational with @jennydianelewis gig in Cardiff, UK. This was my first poster outside the states, so I wanted to be sure I was respectful of other cultures and customs. I did a ton of research on Cardiff the capital of Wales, which was fun because there was so much rich history and a lot to draw from (pun intendedπ€). I came across this cool Welsh tradition called Mari Lywd, where a horse skull figure is carried from door to door by singing groups during the Christmas season. The ritual begins with the singing by the Mari Lwyd group at the door, soliciting both permission to sing and entry into the house, and issuing a challenge to the homeowners. The homeowners then respond with their own rhymes, in a fake battle to outwit the creature and prevent her from entering the house. The battle can continue for as long as the two parties wish, but once it's over, the Mari is let inside - as this brings the household good luck for the future year. The Mari and her procession are then given refreshments as the celebration continues inside before moving on to the next house. A SEASONAL TRADITION WITH HORSE SKULLS, how could I not draw it! Now this is my kind of #mondaymotivation ππ (it's normal to not step foot in the gym in December at all right? π€«)β β If you saw yesterday's post you'll know I am majorly struggling with doing my Christmas shopping! I'm not a big fan of busy shops, lugging lots of heavy bags around, queing and well, people in general...πβ β But what I am a fan of is food (duh) so what better way to motivate myself to trek into town than to treat myself to some @slimchickensuk π and some #lifechangingchicken while I'm there!β β Definitely naughty but oh so nice this chicken tenders meal is my favourite (I'm not as fussed on their burgers) and I was surprised and excited that my food came out in about 2 minutes! Now that's the definition of fast food! πI absolutely love their juicy chicken in its crispy coating (although these ones were a tad oily compared to usual, I guess they were very busy!), especially after dipping it in one of their amazing dips! KFC take note! Every time I go I have to try a new one but garlic parmesan is currently my favourite! π€β β If you've been what's yours? π€€β β I always find the chips are well done and spot on for fast food chips and the perfect portion size (I.e. lots!) and I adore the side of "Texas toast" essentially thinner, tastier garlic bread π and definitely the best reason to make the slog into town! I'll just have to try and remember the main reason I came in was to do some shopping and not just for this! π That said it is a little on the expensive side for what it is, but I personally see it as a treat and to be fair most places in St David's tend to be more expensive due to their location! β Have you tried here?
