As we move into cold and flu season, did you know that massage can help boost the immune system? Research shows that massage produces an increase in white blood cell count (vital for fighting viruses) and changes in lymphocytes (source: AMTA). It also reduces cortisol and vasopressin levels— by lowering these stress hormones, it allows your immune system to work at 100% to help stave off any invaders. Massage can play a great preventative role in getting sick - but if you’re feeling under the weather and you have a massage scheduled, then it’s best to stay home and rest.
I think one of the things that draws me so deeply into bodywork and massage is the fact that it is heavily rooted in two seemingly disparate worlds. The world of science, empiricism, and research and the world of habit, emotion and, for lack of a better term, being human. . . I root my bodywork practice in anatomy and physiology because to be the most effective therapist I feel that you need to know the tissues you’re moving around and how those tissues effect the bones, ligaments, neurons, and viscera in and around them. . . At the same time, however, I need to understand that I’m working with another human. They have their own biases, feelings, and understanding of what is happening in their body. The real magic occurs when we can align, body, mind, emotion, and habit all in one coherent direction. When this happens, the results are spectacular. Happy clients and happy Adam 🙌🏼 . . Stretching is EXTREMELY beneficial in so many ways! I always recommend making a conscious effort to stretch daily for reasons like to reduce stress, decrease muscle stiffness, reduce tension, and improve mechanical efficiency! And also don’t forget to #breathe 🙆♀️🙆♂️🧘♀️🧘♂️ #bodywork#selfcare#motivationmonday

Many people ask what it is I offer and while it is impossible to fully describe my work in words for it needs to be experienced (since much is happening on an energetic level), here’s a basic over-view of some of the modalities I incorporate:- ༄ 𝑺𝒘𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒔𝒉 & 𝑫𝒆𝒆𝒑 𝑻𝒊𝒔𝒔𝒖𝒆 𝑴𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒂𝒈𝒆: Swedish massage focuses on overall relaxation, circulation, and physical and mental wellness. Swedish massage includes gliding, kneading, tapping, stretching, and cross-friction strokes. This style of massage usually has a soothing and rhythmic flow.- ༄ Deep tissue massage is a method with slower, focused strokes and more pressure, targeting deeper muscle groups and freeing previously dense, hardened areas, which may have become chronically painful due to a lack of fluid exchange and energy flow.- ༄ 𝑻𝒉𝒂𝒊 𝑴𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒂𝒈𝒆: Thai Massage is an ancient form of Bodywork based on the application of slow, rhythmic compressions and stretches along ten of the most important “sen” lines (the body’s energy lines) using the palms of the hands, thumbs, elbows and feet. The body is positioned into yoga-like poses and gently rocked to more deeply open joints and facilitate limbering in order to clear energy blockages and relieve tension supporting the body’s self-healing abilities.- ༄ 𝑻𝒓𝒂𝒅𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑱𝒂𝒑𝒂𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒆 𝑹𝒆𝒊𝒌𝒊 (𝑼𝒔𝒖𝒊 𝑺𝒉𝒊𝒌𝒊 𝑹𝒚𝒐𝒉𝒐): The Usui method of natural healing. A gentle, non-invasive, hands-on technique of energy transfer that vitalizes the body's cells leaving all body systems operating in a stronger, and a more balanced state. Reiki provides a positive boost of “chi” (life force energy) which raises the energy field’s vibratory level in and around the negatively affected areas of the body, causing negative energy to dissipate and fall away.- ༄ Each treatment is an
