Finished Ironman Cozumel today, in 10:12! Was originally hoping to beat my PR of 10:06, and came a few minutes shy. But there are good days and tough days, and I gave it my all. There were any number of times that I wanted to quit, but I didn't, and I'm proud of that, even though I would have liked to go a few minutes faster. The swim was a real highlight! Beautiful, clear water, we could see fish and coral while we were swimming - and it was nice that there was a current helping us 😀🏊♀️ Also really pleased to be in one of the front packs of swimmers. Probably the best swim I've had, even when you take the current into account. The bike started out well, but I got dehydrated during the second half, when there were two aid stations in a row where I failed to grab a bottle of water (it is tricky to grab a bottle from someone, while riding by on your bike). Should have been more careful about that, because once you get dehydrated, it's hard to undo the damage. I did do much better hydrating on the run than when I was here for the 70.3...just gotta put the two together. Thank you to my sponsors: @nplusonecyclery , @bianchi_usa , @blueseventy , and @honeystinger. Last Ironman of 2019, so lots of things to work on for 2020. But in the mean time, time to relax in Cozumel a bit, and then get ready for Challenge Daytona! #nplusone#nplusonecyclery#bianchidama#bianchidamaambassadorteam#bianchibikes#bianchibicycles#blueseventy#allfortheswim#honeystinger#honeystingerhive#beestmode#ironmancozumel#ironmancozumel2019#imcozumel#imcozumel2019#ironmanbike
Evolutionary science, as art, as kinetic poetry . Had the privilege of catching Theo Jansen's amazing Standbeests in action alongside a thoughtful interview with Lena Herzog, the photographer behind this 📷. SF, go see them!!! #beestmode
R A C E N U T R I T I O N . Nutrition is a huge component of racing at your best. It’s an energy game. You have to stay on top of your calories before your body runs out. It can be a deal breaker and/or a PR maker. . I approached the Wahoo! Coaches several months back about following a very calculated nutrition plan, specific to each of them. I felt strongly that we could improve their performance if we could really dial in and do it. . I was optimistic that Couch Carlee would see huge improvements with her marathon performance if we could nail her nutrition. She requires a lot of calories because she burns a lot of energy. #puremuscle I wrote an aggressive plan to practice during NYC. She committed to it and took in nearly 900 calories during the race. But there were still some struggles with low blood sugar at the finish. This surprised me, but after talking through it we decided she is unique in her calorie needs. She needs a lot! She absolutely burns through calories like I have never seen!. . At CIM we adjusted and she took in over 1300 calories 😱 from a variety of sources. And guess what?!? A 15 minute PR and one second shy of a Boston Qualifying time!! What a difference!. . Honestly, I was a nervous wreck the whole morning. But when I saw her face at mile 20 and heard what she yelled at me passing by ( 🤭) - I knew it was making a difference and today was the day! . Most people won’t need to take in that many calories, but everyone can benefit from a solid nutrition plan that works for their needs. For Carlee we focused on the days leading up the to race, the night before, the morning of, and the race itself. . Interested?? Well - Wahoo might just be able to help out with your running AND nutrition goals in 2019 😉. . Post take over by @wahoo_lb 💚.
What a year! 2018 was not just a year of running but also a year of personal growth. I am so grateful for all the LWFS athletes who I had the opportunity to work with in achieving their performance goals. Grateful for friendships old and new. Thankful to the sponsors who came alongside to support not only my passion for trailrunning but love for the great outdoors. Thankful for my daughter and husband who continue to support me as I set new goals for myself year after year. Finally I want to thank the good Lord for not only blessing me with good health but for allowing me the opportunity to encourage others through my work. You are a good good God and I will praise you! 🙏💖 📸: @chasquirunner @dave_wiskowski @jnettj4k #livewellfinishstrong#running4thosewhocant#dowhatyoulove#trailrunning
inspire • educate • empower It’s always an honor to zip up my @teamnovonordisk kit and do what I love. • • • Times flies... I’ve be been living with #type1diabetes for 11 years and I have been racing on the team for 9 years. Those 2 years in between, I was struggling to figure out how to manage my diabetes and race at a high level. The team has shown me #whatspossible. I see it this way, I was a cyclist before I was diagnosed and will always be a cyclist. I didn’t choose to have #diabetes and the last thing I want is pity. I have met so many superstars in the diabetes community and am always inspired by their resilience and sense of community. Whether you have diabetes, struggling through something, or just feel conplacent...know that you are not alone and you can define what’s possible. We are #changingdiabetes 💙 Thankful for this team, @usacycling, @edgecycling and my sponsors. • • • 📷 @danchabanov | @the_velodrome StrongerTogether #t1d#t1dlookslikeme#velodrome#trackcycling#beestmode#edgecycling#trainklean#freskincare#girlswithguts#pennstate#hshive#hivetribe#allmepedfree#tokyo2020
