Athlete 2009-2019. . I guess I’ve always considered myself one because I was always playing some sport. Softball, soccer, swimming, tennis, and so on. . Yes, I played those sports, but I never considered myself healthy, never thought of myself as fit, never did it to be active, just to play because I loved the game, and for the competition. Usually, I was the slowest on the field or court, hated doing the workouts, and ate like ishhhh throughout the day. . Now, I’m a different kind of athlete. No, I’m not necessarily playing a sport, but I am competing. Against myself. To be better than I was yesterday. To be strong than I was before. To be healthier than I’ve been. To believe in myself and all that I can achieve. . It helps stretch out your muscles if you’ve had a super intense workout or a long run or you’re just feeling tight- it gives you a release in those areas. It helps prevent DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness). It also helps to relieve pain and ease tension. . . 👉🏻 You can check out YouTube for some great foam 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 exercises. Deceleration is a multidirectional component. Here we are working on lateral agility and deceleration. Helpful hints: 👟Think Left to Right 👟Outside leg drive (furthest leg from box) 👟Shin angle directed towards direction of movement 👟Deceleration control by closing the landing foot (pointing toes forward) Just some of the cues that we use to help our athletes. We also build off of this by having the athletes perform 2 lateral shuffles, and continue progressing by having them go for 10 second bouts. Train hard, Train smart, Learn to train!!
