Athlete 2009-2019. . I guess I’ve always considered myself one because I was always playing some sport. Softball, soccer, swimming, tennis, and so on. . Yes, I played those sports, but I never considered myself healthy, never thought of myself as fit, never did it to be active, just to play because I loved the game, and for the competition. Usually, I was the slowest on the field or court, hated doing the workouts, and ate like ishhhh throughout the day. . Now, I’m a different kind of athlete. No, I’m not necessarily playing a sport, but I am competing. Against myself. To be better than I was yesterday. To be strong than I was before. To be healthier than I’ve been. To believe in myself and all that I can achieve. . It helps stretch out your muscles if you’ve had a super intense workout or a long run or you’re just feeling tight- it gives you a release in those areas. Exercise 🏋️‍♂️: Smith Machine Split Squats Targets 🎯: Quads/Glutes Set(s) & Rep(s) 📊: 5 x 10 Video: TikTok ➡️ TWXN1  Saw @_badmanmo use the actual smith-machine during these squats and had to try them out for myself, and it didn’t disappoint.  A great leg exercise that I do right around the mid-way mark in my workout. I want to do Hamstrings/Glutes first & at-least (1) Quad exercise before I get underneath the bar.  By doing this ⬆️ my muscles are warm and engaged, which means I’m able to truly feel the exercise in all the appropriate areas. A little up in the air of when I’ll compete again, sense I never ended up stepping on stage a couple months ago really is giving me the itch. Just thinking about getting under the lights can give me goosebumps🥶⁣ ⁣ If your someone who’s seriously considering going into a competition to perform well and climb the rankings...keep in mind the tribulations that come with it. If it was easy everyone would do it and end up looking like Greek God’s and Goddesses, so those who never go through the process of becoming a walking anatomy poster will never understand the way you feel or what your going through. ⁣ ⁣ The best way to really prepare yourself is have someone to be accountable to such a as a coach or even a strong mentor to help monitor your progression. Make sure you’re able to be in tune with everything...if you think you need to put other areas of life into consideration make sure those are taken care of first. Deceleration is a multidirectional component. Here we are working on lateral agility and deceleration.  Helpful hints: 👟Think Left to Right 👟Outside leg drive (furthest leg from box) 👟Shin angle directed towards direction of movement 👟Deceleration control by closing the landing foot (pointing toes forward)  Just some of the cues that we use to help our athletes. We also build off of this by having the athletes perform 2 lateral shuffles, and continue progressing by having them go for 10 second bouts. Train hard, Train smart, Learn to train!!

We are excited to start working with @emma.fayye Emma is no doubt a great athlete, but it’s not uncommon for great athletes to have some type of movement discrepancy or poor movement patterns. This is Emma biggest issue she currently has. But with the right movement re-education she will be just fine.
