I recognize this statement may rankle some people. It is not meant to ostracize anyone who is being helped by medicine, nor is it meant to downplay the fact that in some cases, medicine can be needed, and possibly lifesaving. . The point is that medicine does not offer a cure. Especially medicine taken for any chronic condition! . Covering up symptoms does not equate to wellness. It just kicks the symptoms down the road for a time. While that happens, the internal process that is causing the symptoms continues to brew, most often becoming worse over time. . What’s more, is that the side effects of the medicine, which are always there, can start to cause new conditions, or even add to the already existing one. . Real wellness is obtained through giving your body what it needs first through nutrition, then possibly via supplementation if necessary. Finally, finding root causes, and removing them in a way that does not cause further harm. . This process is harder than taking a medication in the short term. But it’s the key to wellness and freedom in the long term! . It all depends on what you’re looking for: health care, or sick care? . #radiantandthriving#paleo#eatrealfoods#wholefoods#guthealing#aip#foodismedicine#ulcerativecolitiswarrior#healthykids#edrecovered#chronicpainwarrior#methylation#mthfr
Apples are typically picked in the fall. If you go to a farmer's market or local farmer, you can get them fresh. The bulk of the apples are picked and go to a holding plant. The holding plant puts a wax coat on them and store in temperatures around 29-32F. The apples are then shipped around. Apples in american can be shipped to European countries and vice versa. So the average from when the apple is picked to grocery store is 9 months, some can be upwards of 12 months. This is better than eating a cinnamon roll or some sort of sugary treat. However the apples are picked before they are rip. They ripen while in storage. Therefore we are not getting the nutritional profile that we could. Yes buying and eating the apple is better than some but it is best to buy local, fresh, and seasonal to get the best value and nutritional profile from your fruits and vegetables.
In the past decade, the autoimmune protocol (AIP) has risen in popularity. I myself followed AIP for six years (yikes) and although elimination of food triggers produced some symptomatic resolution, it ultimately stalled my healing. I was guilty of falling for the hype around AIP as the panacea, its demonization of perfectly healthy foods, its adulteration of science (using in vitro and animal studies to make sweeping generalizations and all-encompassing claims), and the religiosity that sold it to me as the *one and only way*. A yellow brick road to healing paved in liverwurst, sardines, and bacon-wrapped dates. The cardinal problem with AIP is the one many therapeutic diets are guilty of - it elevates food as the primary element in healing, neglecting much more important variables, foremost of which are a return to nature in the form of sun exposure, grounding, circadian rhythm normalization, and mindset shifts in the direction of purpose and gratitude. It neglects essential pillars of healing which oftentimes supersede food—such as processing trauma, enhancing parasympathetic nervous system tone, ensuring restorative sleep and evolutionarily appropriate movement, mobilizing social support, undertaking comprehensive detoxification regimens, minimizing electrosmog and other toxicants—including pharmaceutical drugs—and reversing dysbiosis, intestinal permeability, and growth of opportunistic pathogens. It remains silent or even *endorses* adjuvant-laden soon-too-be mandatory medical interventions inextricably tied to induction of autoimmunity within the peer-reviewed literature. To it’s credit, *if* digestion and assimilation is optimized, it can address micronutrient deficiencies—but in cases of severe and acute illness, targeted supplementation under the guidance of a practitioner is oftentimes required to provision the megadoses necessary for restoration of function. AIP can breed orthorexia,
Hi there! Have been absent recently but it's for a good reason - I started uni last week 👩🏼🎓 so last two weeks have been rather chaotic and busy and first thing to suffer was of course the diet..so no AIP... until today! And this time my husband decided to join too, so it will make everything much easier. Today's lunch was cooked by him as well and consisted of chicken cooked with herbs, cucumbers and grapes 🍇 simple but nom and most importantly - perfect for snacking too! #aiplunch#aip#autoimmuneprotocol#autoimmunedisease#psoriasiswarrior#psoriasis
#paleo#aip#autoimmunpaleo#kostensommedicin#kombucha

We checked in with CEO and founder, Dave Rohde (picture with Norman) about what dishes in our ever-changing menu he’s digging right now. # Dave: “I've been eating our brats a lot. I love that flavor profile. I guess everything we do is pretty easy to heat and eat, but the brats just seem extra convenient. I've been doing a lot of bone broth lately. I want to build up my immune system for the coming holiday season. I'm pretty quick to reach for the Bison Salsbury Steak and Mushroom Gravy and Onion Confit Cauliflower Mash. I love that dish! Another dish that I've been enjoying is the Smoked Chicken with Butternut Squash Stuffing, Spiced Apple Butter and Collard Greens. I look forward to a season of eating pumpkin pie....but, not too much pumpkin pie. 🎃 “
👩🏼⚕️Flour is at the base of so many products, yet most flour you can buy is overly-refined and chock full of gluten. When I wrote The Autoimmune Solution, finding a gluten-free, grain-free flour was very difficult. Nowadays, with the skyrocketing rates of autoimmunity and the simultaneous grassroots wellness movement, more and more AIP products have been popping up on store shelves, including a variety of flours! Coconut flour has become especially popular and you can find this almost anywhere. Some of my other autoimmune-friendly favorites are cassava flour, tigernut flour, and arrowroot flour. These might be a little trickier to find at your typical grocery store, however, online companies such as @thrivemarket and Amazon is great for buying AIP pantry staples!
