I’m so grateful for this season in my life. A season to grow and be uncomfortable. Tonight I asked my movement teacher how a certain exercise works, trying to figure out exactly what was happening in my body so I could be in control. But we aren’t in control. Not of what happens to us or around us. “It’s time to get out of your head and into your body.” Honestly I hate that answer. What if I’m doing it wrong??? But I look forward to growing in the unknown and accepting things as they come and as they are- without fully understanding why. “when you truly master this technique, nothing can go wrong. It just becomes truth.” Thank you Bill. You’re always with us.
Sometimes I sit here and think to myself, “wow mai, you’re really doing this...” And other times I say to myself “wOw MaI yOu’Re ReAlLy DoInG tHiS!!” It’s so uncertain, yet LIFE is so uncertain. You gotta take chances, you’ve gotta take risks, you’ve gotta fail to know what NOT to do next time! A wise man told me “you will fall, but make sure you’re falling forward!” And that’s what I’m doing ... there’s no secret. So stop asking me! Fail until you succeed✨ #thatstheattitude
So over the summer I had the opportunity to take an acting workshop at the @esperstudio with all these beautiful people. It’d be a disservice to try and encapsulate the experience in a single post, but I can definitely say I’m glad to be continuing on this Fall. One class in the bag, 63 to go.
Are you translating your emotions freely? Emotions is a big and very important part of us. From the very childhood we are learning how to hide part of them to present the better version of ourself to society. ❕Be nice ❕Smile ❕Don’t cry ❕Hide your anger ❕Bring your emotions home What else does the environment program you to do to appear so good 😁that everyone likes you? Why you even want to be liked by most? For me it was a shocking thing to know that when we hiding/ declining our emotions, they are not going anywhere. They stay with us. In the body. And the more we hide and decline them, the worse impact it can bring to our health in general. Anxieties, heart attacks, cancers, tumors and even overweight (you name it) can be the cause if you trying to play a ‘Nice’ game 😇. Interestingly, I heard that from different sources. Different astrologists, psychologists, psychotherapists, chiropractors and even some representatives of classic medicine relate body issues with the state of mind and emotional life. ❔So... which emotion did you hide today? And that’s a wrap from me, folks! Hope you enjoyed taking a sneak peak into my time here in New York City and the @esperstudio. This opportunity has been so incredibly valuable to me as an artist and a human being and I cannot thank the Helpmann Academy and the James and Diana Ramsay Foundation enough for bringing me here. 🙏💃🎭🙌🗽 . #instatakeover#williamesperstudio#helpmannacademy#meisnertechnique @nataliasledz
What an incredibly special group of people I’ve had the pleasure of spending this summer with. This is a group shot of our Meisner acting class taught by the incomparable Barbara Marchant. This woman is the real deal, I cannot believe I have been lucky enough to have had her guide and shape me as an actor the way she has. Barbara has dedicated years of her life to this craft, working under William Esper who worked under Sanford Meisner himself, carrying the legacy like an absolute boss. . #instatakeover#williamesperstudio#helpmannacademy#meisnertechnique @nataliasledz
One of the classes I am doing as part of the summer intensive at the William Esper Studio is an Acting On-Camera class taught by professionals who work on real life film sets here in New York City. Here is me in class working on a scene from ’The Imitation Game’. . #instatakeover#williamesperstudio#helpmannacademy#meisnertechnique @nataliasledz
Hey all! Natalia Sledz here, I’m one of the very lucky recipients of the 2019 Helpmann Fellowships supported by the James and Diana Ramsay Foundation. I’m going to be doing an INSTA TAKEOVER here for the next 24 hours sharing with you some bits and pieces from my time LIVING THE DREAM over here in New York City studying the Meisner acting technique at the very prestigious William Esper Studio. 🎭🗽😎 #instatakeover#williamesperstudio#helpmannacademy#meisnertechnique @nataliasledz

There are no words that will ever describe this unforgettable experience, but I’m so energized from this and proud to be an artist. Thank you to everyone who made this summer and to William Esper for giving us a home to live truthfully in. #nyc#esperstudio#repeatrepeat

Today was the last MASK Class 👹with this very powerful person @theremustbemorelight. He is a true self. One of those who are no wonder truly connected. And he turned things ON in us in every sense you can imagine. Yes! Each and every;) His class is about that. Every time I stepped out of it, I felt different. It was a trip. It was spiritual. Time stopped. Masks were put on and ripped off at the same time. And.... I’ll tell no more🤐. Thank you Akil for this experience. I will definitely come back for more 🦶#willpower . . . #williamesper#williamesperstudio#mask#spiritualworld#actingisdoing#acting#actingclass
Today marks the end of my first year at the @esperstudio In my music, in my writing, in film or on stage, I want to find truth. I want to bring things to life. That’s what I want, and that’s what I plan to do. . . . Thank you to our teacher Bruce McCarty for being such a wonderful mentor. Thank you for your wisdom and mentorship, for caring so much about your students. You have changed our lives and we love you for it.
And that’s a wrap on Year One at the Esper Studio! I took a huge leap of faith enrolling in this program, choosing to abstain from auditions for nearly a year and a half so I could zero in on deepening and extending my craft, but it’s turned out to have been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. My thanks to @esperstudio and my teachers Bruce McCarty, Eric Loscheider, and Jules Helm, as well as all my classmates for throwing down the gauntlet every day. #veryserious#actors#esperstudio

Since taking this class I understand why they are one of the Top 25 acting programs in the country. Everyone in this picture grew SO MUCH in the small amount of time that we had together. Shoutout the the “Cheeto Gang” I love you guys and I can’t wait to see where your careers lead you in the future 🎭 #meisner#meisnertechnique#williamesper#nyactor#actorslife
Feeling so proud for having completed the @esperstudio summer acting intensive. I’ve grown so much. It’s been an incredible journey of self discovery married to a renewed dedication to the craft of acting. I have endless gratitude for our legendary and volcanic teacher, Suzanne “Velvet Hammer” Esper. What a thing to be so incredibly knowledgeable, but what makes her such a treasure is her profound sensitivity and her uncanny ability to cut to the core of an obstacle, and relay the solution in a manner perfectly suited to the student and to the moment. Thank you for reminding all of us that we are enough. It’s been an amazing experience not just for my own growth, but being able to witness the progress of all my talented classmates. I’m so excited to see where these tools take all of us next. #esperstudio#grateful#actorslife#actor#training#meisner#newyork#latinoactor#justthebeginning#confuego#craft#theeternalstudent
It was a great summer journey to go through with all of you @esperstudio. Unlocking the defenses that we mastered through the whole life to protect ourselves and open up to appear VULNERABLE in front of other people 👉is not a ‘Sprint’... it’s a ‘Marathon’. . Special thanks to our guide @johnfrey33 that helped to navigate us through this experience. . I love you all and hope that our roads will cross again soon😍. . . . #williamesper#williamesperstudio#meisnertechnique#acting#actorslife#experience#actingschool
My Esper family. My friends and my inspiration. We went from total strangers to honest and vulnarable partners, lovers and enemies. Deepest gratitude to @esperstudio for allowing me to join you guys and for having me as your own the first day I walked in. My most deepest respect to all of you.
SO! If you ever told me that I would be attending William Esper Studio last year, I would’ve thought you were joking. I have had theeeeeee MOST GLORIOUS time of my acting career, ever.... Thanks to Bruce McCarty ! I have met some of the most beautiful, artistic people ever ! Most relationships worth while ... anyways, I’m proud of myself (there’s a first) I’m proud of my journey, and I can’t simply wait to see what God has in store for my future. This has been AMAZING ! Y’all just don’t know. I APPRECIATE EVERYONE WHO HAS DONATED AND ENCOURAGED ME TO PURSUE MY DREAMS! You guys are the MVP🏁 lol #thanksgod
36 path rides, 54 class hours, 18+ rehearsal hours, 3 nights/week, 21 classmates, 1 amazing teacher —> countless lessons and memories that will last a lifetime. Going to miss this crazy, beautiful family! ❤️🎬🎭#summerintensiveclass #acting#dowhatyoulove
On the #actorslife front, what an honor it was to be in the room with these incredibly talented humans last week. I especially love pics 2 and 3 in which we see what happens to @alicekremelberg when praised publicly. 😂 . . Thanks to @samuel8omez for being brave enough to push boundaries and for inviting us along for the ride. . . I love being an actor. ❤️❤️❤️ Photos by the brilliant @ef_fotografia #mynewyork
My time at The William Esper studio is almost coming to a close. I have learned invaluable things about acting, myself and life over the last six weeks. This place is so special and I have made some amazing life long friends. I will be forever grateful for this opportunity and to the people who got me to city that never sleeps. 👍🏼🙌🏼👊🏼
I’ve been totally immersed, these days, in the Meisner’s technique. I’ve had wonderful moments during the 6 weeks summer intensive at the acting school of William Esper. If someone pretends to pinch you and you pretend to have been pinched , who will pretend to believe it? We only can react to what realy touches us. I felt and reacted to each pinch that was given to me. Studying acting in English is not easy for me but I’m lucky to have the most inspiring, passionate and generous teacher that I’ve ever had. Thanks Barbara Marchant for the vitality of your speech that makes me feel so alive. “Alive is good dead is bad”. Nas últimas seis semanas, imersa na técnica Meisner, vivenciei momentos incríveis no intensivo de verão no estudio William Esper. Thank you to all my partners Se alguém finge que te belisca e você finge que sente dor, quem finge que acredita? #williamesper @esperstudio @thelumagrothe @nataliasledz @samanthasbolger @ahlamhkhamis @gabrielladecardenas
We did it. 6 weeks summer intensive program at the Acting school of William esper! I’m part of the meisner legacy and this is just the beginning. Meisner is such a fascinating technique, and the amount of wisdom that travels through the corridors of this school is absolutely insane. Thank you Barbara Marchant, for opening me up and guiding me through this journey, and to all my other teachers who taught me how to find my voice, how to move, and to speak and so on. And my acting partners, who gave me so many amazing moments full of laughter, or sadness and most of all, craziness! This was the best summer romance a girl like me could ask for.
🌞JOYFUL FLOW DAY ALERT: completed my scene study class partnered with queen @nassyclassy, taught by queen @monaco_artist_s at @esperstudio THEN GET THIS the insane Moscow Moscow Moscow Moscow Moscow with duke @goodwillphelps by queen @halleyfeiffer at the @mcctheater EVERYONE GO SEE THIS PLAY OR ILL KILL MYSELF byeeeeeee🌞
How often dare we try things we secretly love 💗 even when it sounds crazy insane? . How often we recognize opportunities in disadvantages? . Those two questions may seem disconnected from the first sight but that may not be the case. Our best experiences in life may lay beyond the point of comfort and fear ☝🏻. . I heard that before in theory from my two navigation sources @mylablife @stepensvobody. But it remains only a theory until you live through it trusting that universe is guiding you (which means a ‘relaxed’ Moon 🌙 in astrology chart) and staying connected to your TRUE desires (which means a working Sun ☀️). . Being part of @esperstudio is one of those experiences the affect of which is not fully seen at the moment but at the same time you already start feeling ‘the winds of changes’:) . . . #williamesperstudio#actingclass#astrology#astrologypost#psychology#psychotherapy#selfdevelopment#spiritualawakening#awakening#spiritual
After 5 weeks of lots of laughs, some tears, endless fun, some harsh reality checks, fights (dare I admit I even cursed once or twice 😶- & shockingly found out I won’t die if I do 😜😉)and learning more about myself than I thought was even possible (apparently need a Speech class for my “strong Jersey accent” that I neverrrr knew I had 🤯🤷🏼♀️🤔 for ex.), I’m excited to say that I officially signed my contract to continue studying at @esperstudio for the next year 🙏🏼. Ending the night with some of my new family 🎬❤️🎭Perfect Friday night if you ask me 🙏🏼#happiness
Know your own worth in your heart and your art, and you’ll always be a success” Bill Esper A ton of things went wrong this year, but one of the best things that happened to me was getting accepted to go on to year two of my acting program. These class photos are a great representation of how it was to be with all of us in the same room. Sometimes that dedication can mean whether you know it or not you are sacrificing something; something is not getting done, time with people tends to be drastically cut or some relationships are growing apart. What I learned through all of this is at the end of the day, you got you and anyone who is around who supports you with your dream and growth will want that for you also. Everyone who is still on the ride with me, thanks. Let us all get to our purpose.
