#worldalzheimersday is 21st September. Alzheimer’s disease is the most common cause of dementia. A brain damaged by the disease can leave it weighing 140g less than a healthy one - about the weight of an orange. Dementia steals our memories and our connection to the world. I support Alzheimer’s Research UK in their bid for more research and to raise awareness of this disease. #sharetheorange #alzheimersresearchuk
It was a pleasure to meet Kate and Stella to show my support for Breast Cancer Now’s wear it pink fundraiser, which takes place on Friday 18 October. Please support #wearitpink to help raise funds for breast cancer research and to support those affected by the disease. 🎩🌸
Good to meet the NFU this morning on #backbritishfarming day to discuss their concerns with 50 days to Brexit and to show my support for our farmers who provide fantastic food, have high welfare standards and care so much for our countryside. #buylocal
The #accesstowork scheme can provide valuable workplace assistance to those living with arthritis. I heard firsthand about the impact the chronic pain associated with the condition can have on people’s ability to remain employed at an event in Westminster last week. It is important that people are made aware of the help available so they can access the support when they need it. #versusarthritis
It was a pleasure to meet guide dog puppy Eve and volunteer Lesley at the Guide Dogs Access All Areas event in Westminster Hall. Guide dog owners sadly continue to face discrimination and many have been turned away by businesses because of their dog, which is actually against the law. I fully support their campaign for access. #accessallareas #guidedogsfortheblind
Please show your support for our serving troops, service families, veterans and cadets on Saturday 29th June. In a month when we have marked the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings it reminds us of the debt we owe our Armed Forces. #armedforcesday2019
Pleased to attend a reception to hear about the CLA campaign 4G For All. More action needs to be taken to ensure better mobile coverage for landowners, farmers and rural businesses. #connectivity #4gforall #countrylandandbusinessassociation
Delighted to meet Linda Hendrie and her team from the Exmoor White Horse Inn, in Exford who were chosen as the South West winner in the pub category at the Countryside Alliance Awards. At the winners' reception in Parliament this week, they were also highly commended in the annual Rural Oscars. Well done to all who make this Inn so welcoming to both locals and tourists. #exmoor #exmoornationalpark #ruraloscars
Great to hear about this year's Summer Reading Challenge. The theme this year is Space Chase which is inspired by the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing. To take part children can visit their local library and will be given a special mission folder to keep track of the six library books they'll be reading over the summer as part of the challenge. It's free and makes reading fun. #summerreadingchallenge2019
This week is Love Your Zoo week and so I took the opportunity to visit Tropiquaria Zoo in Washford to see the important work they do to promote conservation, education and research. I may be biased, but it is my favourite Zoo to visit. I also had the pleasure of meeting some new constituents, although the ring-tailed lemurs seemed much more interested in the food I had to offer! Such an enjoyable way to spend the morning #loveyourzoo #conservation #biaza
Enjoyed meeting with the Leonard Cheshire charity to hear about how assistive technology can support disabled people to live, learn and work #leonardcheshire #talkingassistivetech
Pleased to support Versus Arthritis and their Room to Manoeuvre campaign. Arthritis and related conditions affect 17.8 million people every day. Improving access to home aids and adaptations can make a difference to their quality of life and help them to remain independent. #versusarthritis #roomtomanoeuvre #arthritischampion
Pleased to join the RSPB at the launch of a new single which contains some of the most recognisable bird songs that were once common, but are on their way to disappearing forever. Since 1966, the UK has lost more than 40 Million birds. The single is available on all major platforms #letnaturesing #rspb
Delighted that #finnslaw has now received Royal Assent. Service dogs and horses will now have greater protection under the new law, causing unnecessary suffering to a service animal will be an offence in England and Wales. Great work by my colleague Sir Oliver Heald and all those who supported this Bill to get it through Parliament. Great to see pictures of a happy #policedogfinn enjoying his retirement.
Delighted to join the Tourism Minister, Michael Ellis to celebrate English Tourism Week. We have some of the most fantastic places to visit here in the South West, particularly in this constituency, and tourism hugely benefits local communities and our economy. #englishtourismweek19 #visitbritain
Join me by switching off your lights between 8.30 -9.30pm on Saturday 30th March to mark #earthhouruk to help raise awareness of some of the biggest environmental challenges we are facing. We can all play our part by making small changes, such as turning off appliances when they are not in use #wwf_uk #voicefortheplanet
Delighted to join Marie Curie Rapid Response Healthcare Assistant Patricia McDonnell and #stephenmangan for the launch of the #greatdaffodilappeal2019. Please support the Appeal to help fund vital care and support for people living with a terminal illness and their families. So many of us sadly have personal experience of this #mariecurie
Please support World Book Day's #shareastory campaign. The campaign encourages parents, grandparents and carers to spend 10 minutes a day reading with their children and share stories together. Just 10 minutes a day has long-lasting positive effects on a child's future. #worldbookday
