The matriarch of the Dasan family, Winnielyn, shows off her handmade traditional Tboli piece during our trip in Lake Sebu, South Cotabato. We’re in awe of the precision of the stitches! It takes about a month or two to make one of this. 🧡
Our Alon wood earrings is also reminiscent of a tribal shield from way back, an advocate shared. We love learning centuries-old traditions as well as creating new narratives. ✍️

The intricate embroidery on a blouse is called Këgal nisif. The Tbolis refer to the brilliant colors on a black background as ‘gondong’. Motifs are said to be vaguely reminiscent of the minutely-executed Tboli hakang or tattoos of the past.
